We got "snow" instead of spring showers. Happens every year. Hopefully this will be the last one.

Woman, I swear some day I will have my vengeance!!!

(wonders if there is a Vengeance Demon for deflected snow?)

Morning NVG! Yeah it woudl not have been so bad except it came in out of nowhere. The last weather report I had was 40s all weekend and through most of this week. Then 4:00 Sunday WHAM rain to sleet to snow..... and it just wouldn't stop (curls up into fetal position and rocks back and forth)

So much snow....

(rock, rock)

So cold....

I'm sorry Kel but for what it's worth, I think weather control is definitively on the art side of the spectrum, there aren't maths capable of predicting behaviour for that long so how can there be controlling.

not to mention HK's stabby pursuasive skills need to be respected.

Man I'm fed up of my job at the moment, can't seem to escape it and I'm on the dreaded on call this week.

Need happy distraction, might go read my book rather than do OU work, need a break.

Hope the snow calms down soon for those that got excessive and no other extreme weather hits.

If it'll make anyone feel better, there's snow in Hawaii too. (HK, seems like you were able to deflect some of it to Hawaii island -- Mauna Kea is snowy on top. )

Yep. There's been green tea ice cream for years where I live and I *heart* the ones made locally. (BR made some before and it was terrible -- it was like they dumped cheap chopped tea leaves in ice cream and called it "done"..)

'Bout time you found your pants. I'm pretty sure there were quite a few of us who didn't want to literally know how things were hanging on you...much less be exposed to a full moon.

...and fyi Kel, it would only be a latex mold of you if I had you sprayed on the front side first, and later the backside....I had all of your lower region spray-latexed at once... Just think of it as a free lower-body waxing.

not really. :\ I failed PT back in august because of an untreated joint problem, so i was put on a profile and went through physical therapy and all that jazz to get better, spent most of winter nursing myself back to health, then in january i find out i have to retest in march (this past weekend). knowing two months wasn't gonna be near enough to get back in shape, i worked my ass off to *try* to be up to speed by this month.

well, i tested and i failed by three-quarters of a point. passing is 75, i got 74.25; now i'll be honest, people fudge scores all the time, and most of the time theyre more than a few points off, not a fraction of a point off. i was a FRACTION off, and the guy proctoring (proctering?) it couldn't bump me to passing knowing i'd already failed once.

what really pissed me off more than that was that he shot the email to the PT monitor off before he even totaled my score. My supervisor was pissed, i was pissed and upset (i cried the rest of the day), one of the chiefs was pissed, the proctor realized soon after seeing my score that this was a total dick move on his part, and my commander (who had to get involved because its my second time failing) kind of couldnt believe it happened either. so now i have to be enrolled in this bs fitness program, my supervisor has to give me an LOC (letter of counselling, not really a good thing), and i have to go talk to several people at medical to discuss why i'm not 'up to standard.'

i have to retest in six months (i can retest before then if i want), and i'm so discouraged and frustrated because this has never happened to me before that i feel like i'm never going to pass now (i have a tendency to freak myself out when something bad is hanging over my head). i hate being in trouble and i hate being on the radar for stuff like this because it makes me feel like i'm being scrutinized. it's gonna be a long couple of months.

barkeep, sumthin to improve my mood plz.

ok first take a deep breath... now it's just one test and you really passed and everyone knows it. So you jump the hoops again and it'll all be fine. Don't panic. Just work out a routine and figure out exactly what you need to do and do a week by week goal. Before you know it, you'll be taking the test again and all will be just fine. HUGS

*BIG HUMONGOUS BEAR HUG FLT*

Follow MsA's advice, its right (as per usual). You did pass, really, and everyone knows it. Plus, with an extra 6 months of training you can pass with flying colours next time and blow everyone away!
Of course, we all understand that it'll take a while for you to calm down .. enjoy the breakables for now.

*Adds some fine china plates, the big ol' dresser in my room which I no longer like, and that ancient battered piano from my college's old music department into the breakables room for FLT to enjoy.*
They should all make a good noise when destroyed.

EDIT: If you to destroy a working piano in there, no matter how upset you are, it would literally break my soul ...

I just felt overly gross yesterday .. everything caught up with me && I didn't like it.

Today however, was pure awesomeness:
RESULTS DAY for our AS Level Modules: I got a B in Maths (which is my Minimum Target grade - so BOOYAH!) && an E in Philosophy. I know that seems bad, but I was sure I had a U, and I just passed. Literally, pass mark was 40, and I got 40! I have to re-sit it, but I don't mind really. I'm not carrying it on next year.
Also, because of Results Day there was a revised timetable, so my friends and I spent the morning in costa in the city centre.
AND: the best thing to happen [strike]today[/strike] ever: I got a free lollypop at the newsagents by college!!

&& yeah, I have my Music Performance. 8 minutes on my Flute, a Viva Voce (I have to talk about the pieces I've just played to the examiner, answering his questions at the same time) plus 4 minutes on the Piano. Then the week after I have my Grade 5 Piano exam on the ABRSM Music Board, and its the first time I've ever done a grade exam on Piano. :S

I have to be confident tho!

Well the only suggestion I have for you is on the flute ( I've played for years) be really sure you have your breathing under control for that opening bit. If you're nervous , before you start, tuck your chin down to your chest and take a few really slow breaths... It'll keep you from having that stuttered sound of being breathy with nerves. HUGS

Thank you for the tips. I've been playing since I was 11, but I'm still not overly confident on performances. I don't want to perform, I want to write.

Ah ... see I did considerable performing and I've only been nervous a few times, but my teacher taught me the chin thing. It steadies your breathing before you begin and it steadies your arms too. Something about stretching a specific nerve bundle and that calming your breathing. Also keep your eyes on the notes for the first few bars. Practice fixating on the notes and seeing/hearing them without anything worrying you

Oh my, am I glad it's Friday.

Been a ridiculous week, things going wrong all over the place and I have a horrid cold.

interesting music stuff, luckily percussionists don't have their body fight them when playing but I always hated exams and formal auditions, I guess it's what your used to and comfortable with. I've played to a couple of thousand crowd with two days notice and an hours practice but stick me in a room with an examiner

*shudders*

ah well, I'm going to sit in the corner, drink hot lemon drinks and hope no one from work notices, or expects me to be happy on red nose day, I feel like shite

how's things in your part of the world? Co-workers realised your awesomeness yet?

I'm finally having a down rhythm day, it's like everyone found out I have lurgy and don't want to get infected, a couple of broken printers and that's it.

Anyone read any Alasdair Gray, my other half's sister lent me his latest and it's brilliant, full of all the things I love about his writing and it cheered up my lunch hour no end.

Don't worry. Should only take two or three.

Long week. Started off with wife being taken to ER with what they thought was a heart attack.

The good news is she will be fine (symptoms were a side effect of something non-life threatening). Her heart is fine. And she's home now (after 4 days in).

My two guesses:

Gall bladder

anxiety

pancreatitis comes in a close third, but is not as likely as the first two.

I've had the gall bladder attack where you think you're about to die and literally cannot breathe. It is not fun, and she has my sympathy if it was that.

Hope she's feeling better

hey all,

how we all doing?

Glad to hear the wife is ok SF

What has Mr Manning done to upset you Kel?

I had a good weekend of a combination of sleeping to recover from damn cold and tidying house as estate agent needs to take pictures of the house this week to get it properly on the market.

The other piece of good news is that the swelling on my thumb has gone down so I can once again drum in deliciously odd time signatures.

I may also be auditioning for a working covers band, which won't earn me a lot but might cover my drum bits and put a little bit of cash into housekeeping but at least should make music a self funding thing, which might make a nice change.

Anyone up to anything interesting this week?
