Thought I already posted this, colbert has about 200,000, but it's the same people voting over and over again, serenity has about 100,000 now, and xenu about 50,000, and no one else has squat.
They'll pick serenity anyway.
The numbers I read today on the Comcast news site were 115,000 for Colbert and 98,000 for Serenity.
Serenity is more appropriately linked to the other node names, and there is a real (fictional) space link in that Serenity is the Firefly Mal Reynolds will captain in a far flung future.
Colbert is a parody and a joke as a show, a character and as a person. Not to over-dignify the ISS or our orbital space program, but Serenity is a more appropriate name for the node. Actually, the "piss-recycler" is more accurate and at least equally undignified as "Colbert". Maybe NASA could go with the "Colbert Urination Regeneration Station".....
Or just pick "Serenity"!

hahaha "Colbert Urination Regeneration Station" or Curs for short.
I'm sure they're going to call it Serenity. They'll probably do it like the bridge that Colbert wanted, and find a technicality to avoid giving it to him in a fun way.
"Am I talking to Miranda now?"

Thanks for the actual numbers. My twitter based estimates weren't that far off. They were based on the frequency with which people said "i just voted for _____" or words to that effect.
It shows a margin of error on my twittercast, but small enough to show that my twitter nielsen is probably solid enough. BSG>American Idol> [about ten shows people keep mentioning here INCLUDING FIREFLY] all of which are still even with a 40% MoE, solidly ahead of Nielsen's "second ranked" CSI.
For firefly, not bad for a show that's been off the air for many years. Means more people watched Firefly every week than watch basically anything in Nielsen's top ten except american idol.
Further proof that the MSM doesn't really care about money, it cares about message, they won't air something that conflicts. Sad that this has spread to Fox, who is still braver than most.
Off to watch Heroes, maybe Castle.

There is basically zero chance that Colbert will be selected as the actual name of the node. If for no other reason than that it would make NASA look silly. Really silly.

Colbert just DISSED 'Serenity' as the top vote getter, and likened the name to an air freshener.
The man doesn't get it. We should send him a message!

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager
A concern of the GOP is that the people aren't informed enough to understand their policies, while a fear of the Dems is that the people ARE.

We do need to write to colbert. He just said Serenity was a name for a glade plug-in not a spaceship. Anyone know if his show has an e-mail box we browncoats can flood?
As for the voting, the site isn't working for me right now, but I'll keep trying.

He seriously doesn't get it...? Man, what are the writers feeding him? He's losing more geek points each time he comes on the air. It's sad and pathetic, really.
I don't know about whether there's an email we could write to, though I guess we could follow Xenu's lead and spam the message boards... He might get the idea then. I'm 98% sure that's what got them the mention. The lone Serenity post way back when didn't exactly attract attention.
Edit: I posted on a few threads, mostly just to bump them. Rally the troops! Go to http://community.colbertnation.com/ and sign up for forum access there. Let's flood the Colbert Nation with Browncoat posts!

If these numbers are true--we aren't that far behind, and NASA's quotes are encouraging:
