They did a study years ago at the U of C. Three rat cages. each had a button and a food dispenser.
The first cage would, if the rat hit the button, he'd get food. Second cage, he'd get an electric shock, third cage, randomly one or the other.
Any rat put in the first cage would hit the button three times a day.
Any rat put in the second cage would hit the button three and never again.
