I'd like to point out that Kingdom Hospital has been pushed back for more than a month for various trivial and annoying programs (Special report on HIV in the porn industry?* Coyote Ugly?) with absolutely NO word as to why from ABC. They havent even told King what the hell they're doing according to his site. It stinks of mismanagement on a level only FOX usually attains.

I'm not judging the show one way or the other, Dracos... but what I do know is, the first few episodes of the show DID air-- after much hype and many, many commercials. A tie-in book was published, "The Journals of Eleanor Druse," of which the bookstore near my house still has many, many copies.
I think the later episodes are getting shafted because the earlier episodes had terrible ratings. Not so with 'Firefly,' which got the shaft from the very beginning.
In fact, it reeks of a previous King/ABC effort you might recall, called "The Golden Years." I watched that when it was on, but after 3 or 4 episodes, the final 2 or 3 were aired late at night, or in a time slot so obscure, I never did find the things.
So rather than be true to the fans, they're true to the bottom line: ratings. So at the end, we agree: Networks are Bastards!

And If I recall correctly... The Golden Years had awesome ratings... which led to other Stephen King projects that were made for TV like "The Stand" and "Storm of the Century".
Maybe people are just not into hospital shows like they're used to... and in a show like Kingdom Hospital... maybe there is more of a squeemish factor or people don't like the idea of dead people in a hospital haunting the place... it's just not their cup of tea. Also in the advertisements they show the little girl haunting the place... people may wrongly jump to conclusion that she died at the hospital and many people don't like to think of children being sick or dying. I've seen this with many parents of children who are healthy. Their worst fear is about having a sick child that needed hospitalization.
NBC's ER may have changed people's expectations or quenched their thirst for medical shows also.
I think it's a pretty good show for what it is... it has quirkyness, strange characters, a backstory to explore, a good haunting...
