Yeah, we really should spend that money wisely - on, say, invading Iraq and occupying it. Now THAT is a smart way to blow a trillion bucks or so...

Yeah, no lie there...
Truth be told, it's not the waste I mind so much - I'm used to that by now - it's the wasting our money and giving us nothing in return except the need to borrow even MORE money to turn around and waste.
If they want to waste money on things like roads and bridge construction and upkeep, I'm all for it. If they're wasting it on things like invasions and bombing campaigns, count me out.

For me it's the inexorable expansion of federal power that the ugliest bit. I'd be willing to write off the wasted cash, if they'd just quit making things worse. Hell, double the salaries of every member of congress and send them on permanent recess. It'd be well worth the money to keep them from fucking anything else up.
