The British government has banned Dutch right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders from visiting the country to show his anti-Islam film "Fitna" at the Houses of Parliament.

Wilders was invited by a member of British Parliament's upper house, the House of Lords, to show his 15-minute film, which criticizes the Quran as a "fascist book." But he was informed Tuesday in a letter from the British Embassy he would not be allowed into Britain.

The film sparked violent protests around the Muslim world last year for linking Quranic verses with footage of terrorist attacks.

Wilders has lived for years with round-the-clock security because of his fierce criticism of Islam. He has urged his government to ban the Quran in the same way it did Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf" and warned of a "tsunami" of Islam swamping the Netherlands.

Last month, a court in Amsterdam ordered him prosecuted for hate speech, a rarely punished crime in the liberal Netherlands that carries a maximum one-year sentence. Wilders has appealed the order to the Supreme Court.

In a telephone interview Wilders called the British government's decision "cowardly" and vowed to defy it.

"Let them try to detain me," he told The Associated Press, adding that he had lunch in the British House of Lords in December.

Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen said the Dutch government would press Britain to reverse the ban and said he "deeply regretted" that a Dutch lawmaker had been barred access.

Britain's Home Office, which is responsible for immigration issues, said it had no specific comment to make about Wilders' case.

When you lose the right to free speech you know longer have a democracy. I heard about it listening to city talk fm 105.9 out of liverpool. But its ok for the muslims to protest death to Bush or the Queen. This is the problem with the liberals in England. Hate speech is ok when they do it. Now muslims since I can remember whether they where Sha or Khomeini types they sink of cologne, coked up, talking always about screwing the white blond like a dog, and lazy man are they lazy. Poverty appears where ever those minerets pop up. My grandfather died in 75 told me never turn you back on a muslim or they'll put a knife in it. He was right. The neo nazis are lefty luvin muslims.

I really don't see a problem with this. An independent country shouldn't have to justify what foreigner they do or don't allow into their country. If this was done by the British to one of their own citizens, I would see a problem, but if you think you can spout any kind of hate speech you like and then travel the world freely doing it, you've got another think coming.

Would it be considered " hate speech " to diss Hitler's Germany before they started invading their neighbors ?

Fine if they invade France, but when they start dropping bombs on London..... then that's REALLY crossing the line ?

the British are really screwed
It will start off in cities like Londonstan
but in less than 20 years Britain will be a failed state like the Lebanon

This time the British will first flee to Scotland and Wales
the white english patriots, black christian english, aethist british indians and english chinese will all move out as muslims claim lower england as their own

Their economic system is worse than ous, you think 700 Billion is bad for Fannie Mae etc. Over there its worse, they don't produce anything in England anymore and the pound is under serious pressure as the British banks face collapse. This time it will be Brits in their thousands like refugees begging America or Australia or Spain or China or whoever to take them British in

"Hate Speech" was a poor choice of word on my part, but you can't expect to say negative (though true) things about Muslims and then travel to a Muslim country like Britain. I doubt Hitler would have allowed those writing anti-Nazi stuff to travel to Germany.
