Actually, it's not. It's up against Battlestar Galactica, which is probably the biggest thing out there right now in terms of SciFi.
Although it's cable, it'll still definitely have an impact because most will DVR Dollhouse and watch BSG when it airs.
Dollhouse in on one hour before BSG, so you can watch both. At least that's the way it is here, not sure about Hawaii.

I worry that there's not gonna be enough funny. Everyone's so dead serious. I like the funny. I like when Joss makes me sad and then laugh a second later. I'm predicting just a lot of sad so far.
I'm curious about Echo. I don't see where her character can develop. We'll see...I guess Joss will find a way. This episode felt like a procedural show. Which doesn't appeal to me. I'm hoping it's just cause it's hard to see the big picture from here. At least I didn't hate it. I'm just not in love yet.

Just finished watching and it left me a bit blah.
Loved Eliza and the black actor who is her "partner"
but the actress who plays the director of the Dollhouse did not impress.
I smell Fox's hand in this. The ep felt somewhat disjointed. The story never flowed and there was absolutely no humor (a Joss staple). It felt formulaic and by the numbers at times, almost like it was slapped together. I could sense that Fox wanted all the characters introduced and explained. The rules of the Dollhouse was not entirely drawn out. We know as much as we did before the show started. It could be he's going in a different direction with this one but based on this pilot....well, I give it a C.
Then too, I heard that Fox had Joss do several re-writes. Not a good sign, but I am hopeful that Joss and Tim's genius will come shining through. Of course Joss's stories get more interesting with time. The next few weeks will tell. I agree Chrisisall, this is his most serious work, period.
Here's hoping that it does not get preempted and moved around, as is Fox's M.O.
I will watch it a second time on Hulu, maybe on the second look I'll get something more from it.

On another note, The Sarah Connor Chronicles left me totally cold, as on my other attempts to watch it (sorry Dreamtrove).
