Long live Blu-Ray!

Now that Blue Sun gave us Firefly on Blu-ray, I've finally been able to replace some of the real low-ress stills in some of my work with their high-grade HD equivalents. I started with Incipit Vita Nova, still one of my favorite works. :)

Especially the original image of Kaylee was of very poor quality: all fuzzy, lacking on color, and you could hardly make out her face even. Resized back to 450p in height (from 1080p), we can't expect miracles, of course, but the Blu-Ray image is definitely of much higher grade: you can clearly see her face now, the colors are much more vibrant, and the nasty overall fuzziness is gone. While I was at it, I also added a pseudo-shadow underneath her extended hand, to indicate it's really positioned over the rim of the painting.

I did the same for the images of River and Simon, though I only slightly retouched the River image: with all the smoke, 'tweren't really necessary, either. The new footage allowed me to remove the jagged edges on her arm and back, though.

The image of Simon, like that of Kaylee, has drastically improved, too. Have a look-see:

Naturally, I'm not gonna redo all my work, as it's quite a time-consuming job, really; but sometimes it's worth it. :)
