A really good fanfic to read, I've been hoping there will be a novel, but there doesn't seem to be one, There are so many here with scores of 9 and 10 I dunno which to choose.

Any help would be great!!

Are you looking for something specific? Particular characters or pairings, plotty series or medium-length scenes and character examinations? Pre-series, mid-series, post-series, post-movie?

There is a large amount of fanfic for this fandom, but unless you're going to delve in and judge for yourself what you enjoy, reccs will be most helpful if you give some criteria to narrow things down.

All good fanfic suggestions. But might I also offer an original Firefly novel by Steven Brust?

This was originally going to be one of the Serenity tie in novels that were planned and in some cases started by various authors. Joss decided that he didn't want other folk messing with the Serenity sandbox for various reasons and the deal all fell through. However, Steven had mostly written My Kind of Freedom by then and decided to make it available as a fanfic, for free. And it is *good*.
(Steven does not acknowledge that the comics stories existed in his continuity just FYI, but this is good stuff.)

If you're willing to leave the Blue Sun Room (where there is indeed a lot of good stuff), I'm gonna toot my projects horn and say check out www.stillflying.net, where we've done episode-length scripts to complete Season One and redo the movie as if it had been Season Two.

Wtih 29 scripts total, that's over 1500 pages of shiny goodness for ya.

It would narrow your search down if you had a particular interest or ship. There is an incredible amount of excellent fic from the beginning of fandom - meaning 2002 to 2006 that short of going through the BSRoom page by page (like I did) you could be reading fic for years. Also there is fanfiction.net and firefly's glow archive (thought they are mostly slash currently, their early Firefly fic was excellent) And that doesn't even touch what's on Livejournal whic is pretty well summarized daily at firefly signal.

Some of my favorite authors, here and elsewhere and in absolutely no particular order are browncoat 2X2, Mal4Prez, homespun, Kaynara, kacidilla, guildsister, terimaru, agentrouka, Jane0904, Maystone, Hawkmoth, gilliebeans, hereswith, cherryice, Screwthealliance, musesfool,jackwabbit,valeriebean, and many many more. If you like something in particular, it can be found. Hope this helps.

And check out the Firefly/Serenity communities on Live Journal www.livejournal.com and www.fanfiction.net.

Live Journal is searchable by community and on Fanfiction go to TV, then Firefly.

Live Journal stories tend to be the by better writers but searching for them is harder and Fanfiction is a bit inconsistant in quality but there are a lot of good stories there.

IMHO, once we start getting authorized novels, I think the chances of a new movie go down. At least with the comics, they are coming from Joss's own brain.
