NOOOO! Say it ain't so!
I like Keanu Reeves in some things but hot a Spike. He's just not cool enough. Why can't they ever cast these things properly?

Op: You're fighting a war you've already lost.
Mal: Yeah, well I'm known for that.

Oh HEEEEEELLLLLL NO.
This could be as bad as that Dragonball trainwreck coming out this year (or the high suckage odds of the Avatar Movie).
Why is Hollywood so unkind to Anime?

Wow, just wow.
I could think of a half dozen better actors
Brad Pitt
Daniel Craig
Colin Farrel
Will Smith
Clive Owen
Joaquin Pheonix

Cowboy Bebop was less anime and more animated film noir.
Except of course for Fay, she was pure anime construction. Though I think Angelina Jolie could pull it off.

The only exceptions are CG animation, which are still for children, but are considered to be "better" than "old-fashioned" cell-animation.
Screw 'em. We've still got our DVDs.

Yet another film I have no interest in seeing. I'll just rewatch my dvds instead.

hollywood is mean to anime because its out of ideas, so its resorting to converting stories that have already been made from one form to another ><

I think they should have cast a relitively unknown or up and coming for Spike (Keanu is Neo to so many), then had someone with some movie history in for Jet and Faye to ground said up and coming and level it out. Dunno about Ed though.... Ein should be interesting.

Word. Particularly towards CG animation and how it is regarded higher than 2d. As a 2D Animation major I get that alot. America on a cinematic level thinks the art form (it's art, people) has gone the way of Pong and everything should look Pixar. I respect 3d, and I love what CG is doing in the way of live action (I will watch Transformers just for the all the CGporn lol). But for me 2d is where its at.
I don't have a huge problem with Anime or cartoons being made into live action because we are at a point in the movie industry where special effects can capture so much that great 2d as has already put out. Plus if it's executed correctly it can draw a new generation of fans in. But I seriously have a problem with the approach that has been taken with the ones that are being turned into live action that are geared towards young adults/adults. Not all Anime could be properly transitioned into live action, but there's a few that have the potential to be epic. What kills it is it seems all of these directors and writers honestly stray from the material itself and don't play it true to the original in many ways (including casting a skinny ass white boy to play a Sayan who never went to high school). I think if Anime was taken with as much care as they do with the comic francises (and even to an extent Harry) the product would be something that fans would be pleased with.
That said I want a Thundercats movie and Zoids or Gundam..... my god the CG for Zoids or Gundam *drools*
