Last Crusade. I think USA is running the trilogy this weekend. Regrettably, I'm hawking my wares a two-day festival far far away.

"that's not right! whatever happens is we're all gonna die."
It's just more his style.
Ah, a Cowboy Bebop fan
. You've got good taste.... Why, only yesterday I was watching my Cowboy Bebop: Perfect Sessions DVD....Oh yeah:
Me (a la Mal/Wash) "Good show."

How about Book as Yoda? "There is no try. Do, or do not."
And I'd love to see River recite the Litany of Fear (Dune) at some point ... perhaps at the annual running of the blue hands?
Oh! And there was an excellent line in one of the Cary Grant movies ... I can't for the life of me remember the title (and IMDB isn't jogging my memory, boo hoo!) ... it was the one where Grant was a former French Resistance member and the authorities are looking for him for some reason ... he keeps running off with the help of his best friend's daughter. There's a lovely scene where the daughter and Grant's new love interest both end up in the water swimming/treading water by the beach with Grant and are making catty comments to one another. The line is something like "Would you like to repeat that in shallower water?" ... I don't know where, I don't know why, but I could see Inara tossing off a line like that beautifully.
Cheers,
Annik

A slightly altered exchange for Mal and Wash (a la "The Blues Brothers")
WASH: Shit.
MAL: What?
WASH: Reavers.
MAL: No.
WASH: Yeah.
MAL: Shit.

ok, imagine this at the beginning of Trash (a la Gone With the Wind)
Saffron: Mal, wherever shall i go? whatever shall i do?
Mal: frankly, my dear, i don't give a damn.
either that or at the showdown scene in Serenity where Mal and Zoe are walking to the meeting point (a la Pulp Fiction)
Mal: We should have gorram shotguns
Zoe: how many guys we got there?
Mal: three, possibly four
Zoe: that include Patience?
Mal: not Sure
Zoe: so you're saying we could have as many as five people waiting for us
Mal: possibly
Zoe: we should have gorram shotguns
heh. i silly

Mal: I've got better things to do tonight than die! (Springer, Transformers the Movie.)
Wash: We have Reaver sign! (MST3K reference.)
*Jayne turns up in a suit*
Mal: He is well-dressed. (Angel, obviously.)
Mal: *beginning of an episode, telling off Inara about something* Don't kid yourself.
Inara: *end of an episode, directly at Mal* Don't kid yourself. (Kagome throwing InuYasha's own "self-deception" catchphrase back in his face.)
Wash: I won't run away. I won't run away. I won't run away. I won't run away. . . (Shinji, during his first Eva battle in Evangelion.)
Jayne: So once again. . . the day. . . is saved. . . (A Powerpuff Girls quote --it has to come from Jayne, for maximum humour.)
Jayne: *testing comlinks, as in Serenity* Can you hear me now? . . . Good. (The Sprint commersial, obviously.)
Wash: Big frikkin' hole. (A very obscure Andromeda line. As in "posted to a seldom-visited part of the official site" obscure.)
River: Pretty whack. (One of Joshua's many catchphrases on Dark Angel.)
Badger: Bip bip bip. (Same show, Normal's phrase.)
Zoe: *absently, to Simon, as the ship is doing a maneouvre in the atmosphere (about to break atmo* Doc, you might want to cover *deafening B-O-O-M* your ears. (A line on Navy NCIS a couple of weeks ago.)

Mal: {running onto the Bridge}
Punch it Chewie!
Or
Mal: "I stick my neck out for nobody"
And then of course he does, I just had a thought for an episode, at the end of Casablanca, the well-known resistance leader and his beautiful wife get on the plane. Well what if they got on Serenity instead?
The Cary Grant movie was "To catch a thief"
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
When faced with a moral question I ask myself; "What would The Lone Ranger do?"

Yes! MST3K! I was not expecting that, or InuYasha. Now, who would get to say "Sit, boy!" to whom?

That was spot-on perfet, exactly what I was hoping for. I wonder why it is that Pulp Fiction is coming up so much...

here's another couple that popped in my head at work. Imagine Mal and Jayne tossing the dead fed out of the door at the end of Serenity. Mal looks at Simon's shocked face and says...
Mal: No ticket
it's another Indiana Jones ref, i know. here's the last one. Mal is talking to Inara after the counselor leaves.
Mal: So what did you do?
Inara: We had sex.
Mal: Yeah, but not real sex.
Inara: I move to have that remark stricken from the record. On account of it makes you come off as completely naive and infantile.
Mal: Well where’s the penetration in lesbian sex?
(Inara holds up her hand.)
Mal: (beat; then he gets it) You’re kidding?!?!
yeah! the first Kevin Smith reference on this thread! no power in the verse can stop me!
