I was at a friends house watching him play Halo on his XBox when I heard one of the other troopers called out "Shiny." Does Joss know about this? Have others heard this or am I losing it.

Well, if you're talking about Halo 3, we've got several of the crew providing voices in the game. Nathan, Adam and Alan are all listed at IMDB as characters in the game, and I do seem to remember someone mentioning it back when the game came out. I don't play personally.

I don't play either. And it was Halo 3. With character names like that, I can see there must be some Firefly influence.

I don't play myself but I understand that the characters voiced by our BDH are intentional echoes of their Firefly characters. They also get to echo lines from the show/film. eg Adam's character comments that he "sure could use some grenades about now."

very kool info... my kids have both playstation 3 and now xbox 360 ( halo 3 )which they play often...they're not fans of firefly but if the game and the voices echo something of our big damn heroes i'm all for it and i hope someday they too may climb aboard the ship we call serenity...

Yeah, Alan is one of the first voices in the game, and you have to save Nathan from being killed by a bunch of brutes in one of the earlier levels.

I used many excited explatives to explain to my friends who the voices were.

Also, the guys from the web series "Red vs. Blue" make appearances (if anyone is interested).

Very cool.

I don't think the "Shiney" sort of squee squeeing was invented by firefly. I recall it being around before firefly, so it's possible Halo got it from somewhere else.
