OMG!!
It's been announced.
Unfortunately its not Chiwetal Ejiofor ... but this new one looks really good.
26 years old - youngest Doctor EVER.
Matt Smith.

I hope he does well.

A fascinating choice - I admit I'd have been most thrilled if it had been Chewie but I'm intrigued by Matt's initial interview.
It's still six months before he'll pull on the Doctor's coat and 15 months before his first episode hits our screens so we'll have plenty of time to adjust. Can't wait.

I completely agree with SimonWho. I was slightly disappointed to find out Ejiofor wouldn't be taking the role, but this Smith guy looks really good.
&& considering The Doctor's favourite Alias, it made me giggle, too.

I was intrigued by his interview too.
I've never heard of him before this but there was something about him in the interview that made me like him immediately.
Can't wait to see what he's like as the Doctor

Looks like he has a pair of all knowing eyes. Like there is a lot of history behind them that a young man normally would not have. And as we all know the Doctor is not young. I guess the test will be the first episode. To repeat, "Break a leg" Matt.

One of the specific things they mentioned in the confidential was that he seemed to have the 'old soul' quality which is why they went with him and not the older actor they set out looking for.
I just hope he remains the youngest doctor ever or they're going to have to sart raiding nursery schools for potentials.
I really liked him in the Ruby in the Smoke etc. When I was watching the Confidential I was thinking I knew him, then it dawned on me where from even before they showed clips from his previous shows (which as I said in my blog is proof that he's good enough to stand his own against Billie Pipers wardrobe - total costume groupie) and, after Donna in the last season, I keep telling myself to have faith in the Who's teams casting decisions.
I really don't like his hair though, i hope they change it - it makes him look like someone smacked him in the face with a wok.

I can see the backlash has already started on the internet.
This site and TV.com are pretty much the only sites that aren't completely tearing the poor bloke apart.
How can people judge when they haven't even seen him in the role yet?
