oh my god those antibiotics are huge O_o

ok, i'm going to kill someone. the new PT monitor at our base is on an effing power trip since getting back from tech school. Today he comes up to me (because I failed because my knees were fucked to shit last time i testerd) and gives me this sheet saying i have to go to medical squadron tomorrow to talk to them about some bullshit or another. I asked him what it was about and he was like "I don't know, I've never heard of this, u just have to do it."
I called my supervisor, who is on his way to a tech school in florida right now, and was like "pete, what the fuck's going on with this?" read him the sheet, and he advised me on the situation and told me to go back to the PT monitor and tell him 'pete wants me to wait on this, because the last time I went to medical I got fucked over and he wasnt here to help me out." Pete was *not* happy that this guy went around him in doing this, instead of talking to him about it first, as he should have.
Now, I've talked to the bf as well, because he's good about keeping his head about him when shit like this arises, and he rationally stated -- and i kind of agree with him -- that this program shit whatever it is that the PT monitor's trying to get me into is probably something to either scare people into exercising, or weed out the people who arent and get them gone. but the point is I haven't even had a chance to retest after all the shit I've gone through, and now this is coming up. And of course the one thing the bf said, which i wish he hadn't, was, "i don't know, but this could get you discharged." which is even more bullshit because i resolved the problem that kept me from passing, I just haven't had a chance to get back in shape which is why i didn't want to test *now*. I wanted to test when i felt i'd be ready. but whatever, I'll go back to the noodge tomorrow and talk to him about it, and see where we stand. it could be as benign as just a 'get back in shape so u can pass ur pt' thing, or it could be a fucking bullshit evaluation which i DONT need and theyre blowing out of proportion. again. like they did the last time they fucked me over.

*sigh* i'm mad. needed to vent. sorry everyone :\

if it is the "program" I am thinking of, then it is supposed to help you reach the goals set by the military. My husband used to be the PT dude and he talked about it all the time. What he thought was fucked up is that the goals set for women are irrational and are too hard for them to obtain.

Anyway, I wish you luck - how long til your supervisor gets back? Can you go to sick call and get a chit to sit out for awhile?

Now appropos absolutely nothing - ever notice that when British characters are having pissing contests it seems more dangerous somehow? Or is it just me?

Well, if by 'help you reach the goals set by the military' you mean 'give you an informal pep talk on how to treat yourself in regards to fitness and eating' then yeah, it's the same program lol.

And you know what the real kicker is? Apparently I was supposed to be enrolled in this program five MONTHS ago, and the fitness manager for the base won't allow our PT monitor to reset the clock since we were kept in the dark so long, so i have *one* month to get ready. @_@ great.

Overall it's been a waste of a weekend, but I'm glad its over cuz now i can get back to my life ^_^ wootwoot

Well, according to him he can :\ i agree though, still think it's bullshit, especially since none of us were kept in the loop or anything, and our pt monitor *wanted* to reset the clock to allow us more time and give us more of a chance, but he made the mistake of *asking* the fitness manager if he could do it, and the dude said no, so he was like 'oh well' thanks for the luck, i'm gonna need it lol.

Yeah it is not fun, but I'm gonna work my ass off to prepare anyway, see where it gets me ><

Weirdest present I ever got that I didn't ask for was a toy laser gun. my cousin is a fan of gag gifts, tends to get them even when a person's list says otherwise lol. I love him anyway, that whole part of my family is fun.

Well there's two types of vanilla in the store, there's "pure vanilla extract", and there's "imitation vanilla extract". the 'pure' stuff is actually made from vanilla, dont ever. ever. get. the imitation stuff.
sorry, i'm a baking fiend so i pay attention to that kind of stuff (i actually asked for a spice rack for christmas lol) XD if you're not into baking though it's a weird present to get.

ok weirdest present I got( still terribly sweet though) My dad, who does AMAZING woodwork, made me and my sisters jewelry boxes...which is so incredibly cool except for the fact that as a jewelry fiend I have a specialized custom jewelry " box" that's a full length mirror that swings open and has divided holders for earrings, special bracelet holders for link and bangle bracelets, ring dividers, and little individual boxes for pendants as well as hooks of all manner of varied lengths for necklaces... so I will be using the box as a memory box instead

Eh, well...... okay.

Last year, she got really, really depressed, and she started cutting herself. She only told me this year, and she's happy now and she sweared to me that she was over that. But lately she's been getting depressed, and she just showed me that she's started again! And I know, wanting to throttle her doesn't seem like an appropriate reaction, but she frustrates me since apparently there's something wrong and I can't fix it for her and it drives me nuts!

Sweety I have dealt with this with students all the time. Here's what you do. TELL HER PARENTS...TELL HER COUNSELOR..Tell anyone who will listen to you. She needs help way beyond anything you can do.
Also its an attention getting , pity me, drama queen choice. I am sure the stress and trauma are real, but there is ABSOLUTELY nothing you can do to help her. Either she gets competent professional help for her issues, or she won't get any better

I agree with MsA wholeheartedly. You can listen to her and be there for her and be her friend, but the best counsel you can get her is professional help. cutting on oneself is no joke, nor is depression, and it won't go away on its own. She may hate you for telling her parents/teachers/principal whoever you end up telling, but this is the kind of secert you *have* to violate, for her own safety and well-being. It's a tough spot to be in, but it's something you have to do.

I can't tell her rents, they're the backbone of her troubles, and the counselor at the school is useless...

LF/RF: As another teacher-type, let me add to MsA's suggestion: If you can't talk to her parents, or the school counselor, talk to another adult that your friend trusts -- a school teacher, her priest, a favorite aunt/uncle of hers, if your friend trusts your parents talk to them. The main thing is, LET A TRUSTED ADULT KNOW AND GET HER SOME HELP.
I know friendship and loyalty are important, but as it has been said before, this is one secret that you should not keep.

Yep you gotta rat her out. It's a cry for help and clearly she needs help. You might lose a friend for a while though.

Think of how you'd feel if she committed suicide and you never said anything though.

RF, trust me, you want her to get the help she needs. Things like this are indicators of a deeper problem and are a mask for other problems. She could easily develop eating disorders, start a drug habit, or become sexually promiscuous. If she's lucky she will only do one of the three, but those things all go hand in hand.

If you really want to help, tell a trusted adult that can advocate a solution with her. If you are her friend than enabling her by not seeking help is an injustice to you both.

OK so not to make you reveal more than you'd like, but what city are you in ( you can PM me if yuo're more comfy with that) I can find hotlines for you that you can report her to. Also any teacher you have together or the school vice principal or principal would be good.... and hey sweety you may think your counselor sucks, but they still have resources you don't and will have the ability to contact those resources. Also unless her parents are abusing her they need to know she's doing this. She might have major problems with them and feel they are the cause of all this, but a LOT of teenagers feel that way. It's a big part of being a teen. Unless you have reason to believe her parents hate or abuse her, you need to tell them. She needs help NOW> Believe me I have been where you are and if I had told a teacher or school counselor my friend Rachel would be alive. Instead she was buried in the cemetary a few months after her 14th birthday....

...Coming from the other (teacher/adult) side of the situation, you need to let them know.
As teachers/counselors/school employees, there's an adult there that knows her as a person and cares for her... While they might not know that how severely depressed she is, they do care for her and for you.
I know we're repeating the message, but get her help PLEASE, NOW. Violating that secret is far better than to keep it.

MsA has already offered to provide you with direct information to local hotlines, but if you don't feel like sharing even with her, may I suggest the following numbers:
Boys Town National Hotline: 1-800-448-3000 toll-free, these people are trained counselors and can help you and her with a voice to talk and listen to (as well as provide other resources)
The National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) They'll route your call to the nearest crisis center, and all calls are free and confidential

There are more, I'm sure, but for her sake and yours, please let an adult near her know. A favorite adult relative, a teacher, her doctor (if you know them), her rabbi/priest/minister...

So there are layoff rumors swirling around the office where I work. So, now I'm trying to stay away from saying stuff like that. I feel like stuff like "I wish I could be at home" or "man I hate getting up for work" just tempt fate :-P

So, you know it could always be worse.

I was late.

Car was frozen.

Some a-hole drove ten miles an hour under the speed limit half way to work.

Another a-hole backed out onto the highway while on the phone almost sideswiping me with the ass end of his truck.

And a dog ran head on into me at a bend in the highway, missing me by inches.

Oh happy day.
