Atherton is my nickname (taken from the former England cricket captain; Mike Atherton whom I apparently resemble) and I thought it fitted in well with the Firefly universe, with Mr Wing.

Guided By Voices are one of my favourite bands, which I got into via Buffy (Teenage FBI was on the first compilation album, and I hunted out Do The Collapse for that tune, and have been hoovering up their material ever since).
There's the Whedonverse connection, but I felt the need to gussy it up some in the Firefly direction, and what with River's "its getting very very crowded in here", the two came together.
MBV for short on the chat, though I worry I sound like a key ingredient in Chinese restaurants....

Hey, there. I'm near certain that vera is actually Spanish for side. And I am certain that verdad is Spanish for "true" and/or truth. Slight difference, but thought it worth mentioning.
I've had my name a long, long time. However, I'm not entirely sure where my name came from - I refuse to believe it's a personality thing - so I'd appreciate any recollections you may have.

I love that book! I have never been so shocked and horrified by a novel scene as I was when I read the scene when the plane comes out of the cloud and cuts that soldier into pieces. I literally went from laughing out loud to shrieking to crying, all within about two minutes of reading time.
As for my name, I once had a boyfriend who thought I was so adorable I reminded him of Gizmo from "Gremlins". I used "Gizmo" as my screen name for a while, until I realized people were shortening it to "Giz". So I switched to "Maugwai" which is what Gizmo was, even though I misspelled the word. I've been using it too long to fix it now.
I'm still cute, but I don't eat after midnight.

My handle, Lupin Addams, comes from a character in an unpublished semi-autobiographical novel written by a friend of mine - the character is based on me, so I felt fine about nicking it!
(Plus since a lot of the cooler handles have been taken by others on various lists, I figure there aren't going to be many others out there with this particular name!)
Lupin - of the wolf (yeah, should be 'lupine', but hey...), also a kind of plant...
Addams - just like it sounds. My family is often described as The Addams Family on acid.

Mine is inspired by the astounding high fantasy series, Tales of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erikson.
Sorcery is an everyday thing and there are many levels of power and practitioners, including humans. Mages are able to access and draw upon warrens or paths of power and achieve levels of ability over health or light or land, or seas, etc.
All of these channels of power and understanding were created long ago and have their limits and secrets. This is only scratching the surface, btw. (I'll just stop there . . . heh, heh . . .)

Well, people seem to think I am a bit off. Odd, strange, insane, touched, weird, etc. And I am a girl.
I use to refer to people as "that girl with the hair", "that guy with the shoe", "that laughing person", and such instead of using their names. We all know what happens next: what goes around comes around. Someone began referring to me as that weird girl. It stuck. Then someone bought the domain name and gave it to me to create a website. Five years later, I have learned a little about site development and coding. So now I am weird and a geek. That's all.

Me too! That was depressing when Kid Sampson got chopped up, than McWatt commited suicide. My gosh, that was depressing at the end.

I've always herd veridad used as "right" Like "Ellos le gustan tocar la guitara, veridad?" (They like the play the guitar, right?)
Although now that I think about it i guess it could be traslated more litaraly as "Is it true that they like the play the guitar?"
So now that i REALLY think about it i start to wonder why i even mentioned it.
