I went to it with my wife. I don't see why the reviews were so bad. I won't say it was high art (no Masterpiece theater was my wife's exact words) but it was fun. I certainly was able to enjoy the good and let the bad go. Hell, it got me laid...

All in all, it was fun. I've read the first couple books and as book-movie conversions go, I've seen worse. I'm looking forward to the second movie and the third and fourth books.

I do think its hilarious that during production they weren't confident that there would even be movies made of the rest of the series. Considering the 37 million budge, I think that debate is over.
