It's a loop with no end. Like this:

Kind of similar to this (same artist):

I've know about this loop, but just discovered its name as I was looking up moot. It startled me how it follows a similar logic. You can not reach the end just like you can not answer a "mu" question.

Escher liked to sketch optical illusions like the stairway. Wikipedia has a couple of illustrations of his work.

I keep threatening to write a scifi book called "Mobius Dick: Or The Great White Hole." Haven't gotten around to it yet. I know what the first line will be though, "Call me, Ishmael."

I keep trying to come up with something witty to say, but how do you follow "The Great White Hole".

Edit: Very carefully.

You jump in the next cab and say, "Follow that theoretical astrophysical phenomenon!"

Having taken cabs in Chicago I believe that is their normal procedure. I have actually had one cab driver act as a tour guide. Pointing out every woman that met his strict requirements.

With a finger pointing straight ahead he would exclaim,"Look at the number".
