It ran it's course.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

I'm not buying that folks on the Left really believe what they're saying, that some how Palin cost McCain the election or even brought him down some. She's the reason it was as close as it was, otherwise Obama would have the landslide so many had predicted. McCain's people, clearly NOT Rove or Cheney, were idiots. They kept Gov Palin off conservative talk radio until just days before the election, when that's where she should have gone FIRST, then off to chat w/ Katie Couric, The suits in the war room really screwed that one up. It's almost like they were TRYING to lose, they ran such a bad P.R. campaign.

I don't blame Sarah for zipping off that stage as fast as she could. She's a natural born winner, and had no more reason to stick around w/ the " Gawlee, I'm just happy to be here " attitude of McCain's. She knows she's got work to do, and it started last night. We'll be seeing her again soon.

Ehhh ... speaking of no clue ...

Again, for your 'gag' post to be funny, they shouldn't be identical mirrors to your REAL post, making any distinction between the two to be impossible to decipher.

"I'm not buying that folks on the Left really believe what they're saying (about Palin)" ...

And that's merely one of your many, many mistakes - you think you're a mind reader.

And speaking of mind readers - if you ever thought you were one - try this on for size: I'm a grey-haired granny-type.

Right on, man. Mcain let himself be used and abused by his handlers. the fact that he conceded with such honor and dignity...well, if he had campained like that he would have been truely origional. and that's how obama got elected, by being origional. not that change for the sake of change is a good thing, in fact it usually is very, very risky. but he presented something of an anomaly, and the american people, after so many years of the same thing, ate it up and asked for seconds. Mcain showed his origionality in two main instances: with the pick of palin as VP and the concession speech. his problem was that he didn't be himself. He was caffine free diet mccain. he should have been wild cherry mccain(wow, that soulds a bit absurd when you say it outloud, doesn't it? wild cherry mccain.)
also, lets be honest here. you had a guy who was half black, and that drove the black vote to an unseen amount for the democrats. and then youo have the " i feel guilty for being white" vote that was not a majority, but probably a large group as whites in general are terrorifed of being seen as racsist. ( man, i wish i could spell.) and the rest are people that either believed him and bought into his messiah image,
or just hadn't anything origional in so long they just couldn't help themselves.

awesome as always,
lester

Well, I didn't vote for Obama, I voted against McCain. And not against the old McCain - the 2000 McCain - but the new 2008 McCain, the one who cozied up to Bush, Cheny, Rove, and 'the base'. I'm not sure my reasons, which were very specific and issue-related, fit into your analysis.

Hello,

Rue, am I misunderstanding your post, or are you a woman? I always thought you were a woman, but couldn't remember you ever saying so.

I'm not even sure what made me think of you as a woman, but somewhere along the line I got that impression. So was I right, or are you making some kind of joke that I don't understand?

And the reason he cozied up ---

While Democratic nominee Barack Obama surpassed Sen. John McCain in fundraising during the primaries, the McCain campaign is now benefiting from huge sums of money raised by the Republican Party and funneled toward advertising for the McCain-Palin ticket.

Obama — who opted out of public financing — had $77 million in the bank at the beginning of September.

McCain took $84 million in public funds, which must carry him to Election Day. The law says McCain cannot raise or spend more than that $84 million, while Obama has no spending limit.

But McCain has found a way to work around these limits. The Republican Party — and not his campaign committee — has paid for more than half of his campaign ads and outspent Obama on television in the first week following the conventions.

McCain is using an arrangement in which he is not collecting private money, while the Republican National Committee is.

This works so well because the RNC is raising far more money than the Democratic National Committee. In its last official filings, the RNC had $75 million on hand — almost 10 times more than the DNC.

Yes - I am a woman - who's also grey, old and in pain, dumpy, and cranky. And two kinds of scientist.

But enough about me --- how about you ? Or how about another topic of your choosing ?

Hello,

I'm sorry Rue, I didn't mean to step on your privacy, I'd just always wondered.

As for myself, I think I've deposited the whole of my biography on these forums at one time or another. But since you were forthcoming, I'll summarise:

33 year old male, son of Cuban immigrants and born in Hialeah Hospital in South Florida. Spent all of Elementary school with a D average, failed the 3rd grade and was forced to repeat it. Grades improved dramatically in High School, to the point that I qualified for a scholarship to Miami Dade Community College. While still in High School, I took certificate courses in AC, DC, Semiconductor Electronics, PC and VCR repair. It was all outdated by the time I graduated High School, because component level repairs were no longer vogue. Upon graduating High School, I spent one year attending Miami Dade Community College full time, consistently failing to pass even basic math courses. Some people call it discalcula. At the time I called it "I don't give a shit about calculus and don't see what it has to do with a degree in English Education." Dropped out after one year in college, realizing that I had nowhere near the ambition or drive needed to endure any process that pained me.

Only later learned that life is full of processes that pain me.

First job was selling electronics at Radio Shack. Then worked for the Hialeah Police Department, which was the 2nd best paying job of my life. Then worked for Kent Security as a Security Rover, Gate Guard, Desk Guard, and Dispatcher. Got a job at Jackson Memorial Hospital as a Security Dispatcher, which was the 3rd best paying job of my life. Worked briefly for Convergys, diagnosing problems for Dell Computer users over the phone. Next took a job as a telemarketer for Inktel Direct. When it was realized that I had no talent for lying, I was placed in Quality Assurance. This was unfulfilling, as telemarketing companies don't actually want their Quality to be Assured. Moved to Arizona and got a job with a big bank, which is the best paying job of my life. I hope I get to keep it along with my new house.
