ABC had an undecided debate meeting, split right down the middle of Kerry/ Bush voters from '04, in St.Louis. Right after the debate, first question the moderator asked " Who thought Palin won the debate ? " Well over 3/4 or as he called it " almost everyone raised their hand " thought Palin won.
Asked why ? 1st to respond, a guy, said she " talked directly TO the American people, she really connected."
That is all.

Oh please, she didn't answer any of the questions. She regurgitated a bunch of crap they crammed into her. Did she sound like an idiot, no. Did she get a couple of good ones in, Yes, Did she win, No.
Just because she stepped over the absurdly low bar her own party set for her does NOT mean that she has the experience or the ability to be President of the United States, and APPARENTLY she still isn't even sure what the hell she would be doing as VP.

Hey, I saw Biden completely not answer a question and go on a rant about what the Bush administration failed to do. ( Bush isn't running for another term, which I find freakin -HILARIOUS that Biden would not understand ) However, the question was what promises which YOUR campaign has made that you think it is least likely to keep.

Palin unacceptably avoided answering how Mccain is different on any issue than Bush, how he is actually planning on dealing with any of these problems, and it was no suprise that she led in with the intention of not answering questions the way Biden or the moderator wanted...leaving her room to just pull from her bullets.
She fucking freaked me out when she said that she wanted the VP to have more authority - but that is surely going to make the Xstian base she attracted to the ticket slobber all over themselves.
Saying all that, she did WAY better than I thought. She cheated forever in the first half, avoiding the questions, but the grueling coaching she's been getting certainly paid off, how it needed to.
It gave the republican spin jockeys enough to declare victory, because she didn't obviously fumble...she didn't answer things, she didn't make clear any of Mccain's ideas, but she left plausible deniability as to whether she didn't answer those questions because she wanted to talk about other things.
The base is going to be back on her big time, and all those people I was demanding to defend Palin as quality for the position of VP and possibly President, are going to come out of hiding and assert firmly that she's who they always knew she was, and that she owned.

The standards she had to live up to were low...the expectations were low, so all those people tuning in to watch a meltdown had to have come away with a better opinion of her than they expected to.
The question is whether or not undecideds will be assured by her appearance that her and her ticket are actually going to help them. All she gave them was general good will and that tired line that the "democrats always raise taxes"

except that you have one detail wrong. Biden started off answering the question, but as far as I remember he only gave one example of what they'd have to change.
It was a weasel, maybe, but he did answer. He said they would slow down their aid to foreign nations.
