I'm new to this forum and I decided to read this thread because I live in Britain and...I quite like it actually
However, I must admit that Britian's Politically Correct Nanny state is getting fCKing ridiculus, but at the same time, you can't say that America isn't just as bad for different reasons. It doesn't matter where you live, it's screwed up: the British GOVERNMENT won't let you breath incase you cough and sue them, and the American GOVERNMENT is quite generally mad. Britain doesn't suck any more than America: the stupidly corrupt system of government does
On a side note: Wulfenstar, you're an idiot: trying to hold a rational argument with you must be like
- try to see that all arguments have TWO sides, please!
Hope I haven't offended anyone too much...
(and KWICKO, please don't shut up: there are too few voices of reason in the world)

HA! I do see 2 sides to the story. I just prefer to believe in the intelligence of folks, and to believe that people have the RIGHT to govern themselves.
The other side, of course, is those who feel people are too stupid and should be "taken care of" by the people in "authority".
I don't hold to that notion, of course.
A society is built on the stability of the people, and their ability to think/act for themselves. Not on laws.

I'll give you that, in general us Americans are mad as a retired hatter, sure.
I think Wulfenstars rationale for being so rabid about this is the fact that we too have some political folk who are pulling hard for a nanny state, and he wants to shock and embarass those folk here into drawing a line and defending it before it gets as ridiculous here as it has gotten over there.
Not so say we don't have our own problems with the set of rabid dogs in power over here at this time, but one danger should never blind a person to the others looming just behind it.
Remember that when some mad dog over on your side of the water decides to run on a platform of disabling the nanny state, and the strong chance they'll replace it with the welfare-warfare model our guys are all into.
Out of the frying pan, into the fire is usually not a betterment of one's situation.

They displayed their fanaticism for the delicacy during quizzes, role-plays and mock commercials. Her husband Fred added: 'It's unfair because faggots were a British delicacy long before any of the others. The great British faggot is full of flavour and a great belly warmer at this time of year.' The competition was organised by faggot producer Mr Brain's Faggots."

Even though there's a whacking great picture of them on your own post you still cant manage to see that they are called MR Brains Faggots.
How are we supposed to take you seriously when you make such a fundamental miatake as this?

I wasn't saying that Britain or America was wrong or right, I was just trying to say that everyone made a reasonable point until they started slagging each other off - it just seemed pointless for us lot to argue when it's other people that are being gorram idiots and screwing stuff up
Yeah - out of the frying pan and into the fire...not so good I totally agree, but then again at least in a fire you can get burned without 300 friggin warning lables telling you it's hot
America's got that cool "land of the free" going for it, and Britian...well we're cool because we can drink tea with our little finger sticking out and still appear manly, so I'm basically saying "if you're going to argue, go for the dickheads rather than the browncoats" (and I'm sorry Wulfen, you're not an idiot - you're patriotically stubborn
)
(and who-ever keeps making that faggot joke: yes, ok, it's a funny word there, and a foodstuff here. You'd laugh at the fact we eat buns with cream on them wouldn't you?)

Hahah, as a native brit you'd appreciate this one...
I got to some serious drinking at a run down pub in whitechapel, which I presume is the english equivalent of "Da Hood" - and at a certain point I realized that if I passed out there I was certain to get rolled...
So I wander out into the street, and find a taxi pulled up to the curb, no doubt waiting for some drunkard like me to come along.
And so, I lean against his cab to help hold up the earth cause it seemed a little shaky, and ask "Hey boss, could I get a ride ?"
He blinks, stares at me for a long moment, and then says...
"You're a yank, aren't you ?"
I didn't quite realize the humor of that little bit until much, MUCH later.

No, no - go with your first instinct. You were right.

And there's not a chance in hell I'm going to shut up anytime soon. Matter of fact, I'm typing this while being legally blind in one eye - which explains my absence here most of today; I've been shuffling from one doctor to another eye specialist while they try to figure out how it is that I can go to bed with a bit of a sore eye and wake up unable to see more than vague colours and shapes out of that eye.
But all is well, or will be in a few days or so. 'Til then, not much driving allowed for me. Which kinda stinks, because I was s'posed to be running a commercial truck down to Houston this weekend to pick up a dozen skids of product at the port... So now that trip is on hold. :(
