What do you all think about adding Avatars so that they'll go with your names on things like messages, etc.?

If there is an interest, I'll add the feature to the website.

As long as it doesn't slow down the load time on the site. It's not neccesarily something I'd be overly interested in, but they can be fun.

I think as long as I keep the avatars small, maybe at most 40x40 pixels, they shouldn't affect download too much.

Okay. Man, that was more tedious than I thought. After much hacking, I finished enough code so that the avatar thing is functional.

There isn't too many avatars yet, but as I acquire more images, I'll add them.

I'm also thinking of letting you guys upload your own avatars. I'm dreaming up the code in my head as I write this.

The avatar size are currently set to 48x48 to keep it under 2K and are JPEG only. Maybe when this thing is working smoothly, I'll add support for the GIF format. It's just way too much work to do right now and I would rather spend that time fixing and adding other features to the site.

You can select your avatar by clicking on the "MY FIREFLY" menu option from the main menu.

As always, I welcome any suggestions.

You just gave me an idea. What do you think about having the ability to add your own little tagline under your name? So that "Just call me Badger" will appear under "Shuggie".

And Tieka suggested that everyone who wants their own Avatars can email me and I'll add them to the selections. I have no problem with that, so email away.
