We are at a disadvantage with those "vote once" polls, because there does not appear to be a lot of us involved. I think we lost most of our voters once the tvvote poll shut down. But we still make a difference in those polls that allow continued voting.

As for the stargate poll, it appears that none of the stargate fans there have bothered to check the results lately, and are unaware that the browncoats have slipped in and done the deed. We're like that, when you least expect us...

I haven't had any problems. When it doesn't register your vote, it usually gives a message near the top explaining why.

Vump. The messages says that I voted once within the six hour time period after I click on Firefly, it just doesn't increment the tally. I think it is from having coworkers who vote there, but I came in at 2pm today after being off from work yesterday and when I logged in I voted as soon as I could and the site again said I voted once after I clicked on Firefly but its total hadn't changed. I am alone here today so it can't be my coworkers.

Can't stay long.
Wind-storm in the Ohio River valley (Cincinnati area). Minor structural damage (shingles, holes from falling limbs, a few crushed cars/rooms), a few roads blocked. Widespread power outages due to downed lines.
No power at home since 1300 yesterday, expected restoral tomorrowish. Most businesses are closed.
IceCream for dinner tonight if the power isn't back up Actually it'll probably be grilled chicken & veg, but the ice-cream'll be melting too.

I'm having fun plying my chain-saw to help folk out & dining by candle-light (who says I'm not a romantic?). Mrs. Me isn't seeing the humor in all of this (but then again she can't go to work & catch up on the news & surf the net either ).

Time to get to work retoring the cell phone network.

While TvTally is a hard slog, we are making progress at other sites.

At weekinwhedon we have closed the gap by 150 so far this month (to 1017). On BBC, we have got to from 39.5 to 39.62 so far this month (while Star Wars has gone from 30.85 to 30.78). Only 10-15 votes a day are cast there each day (apparently only one a day registers), so every vote counts.

All the other sites are subject to benefitting from a few extra votes. No getting lost in the crowd here.

Not too hard to see why TvTally is "a hard slog". 13 hours into the day, Jericho had 13 votes, going up slowly. Less than 20 minutes later they triple their vote total. At least Browncoats play fair. (Well, except Jayne, but he ain't in this fight!)

Yeah, there is some kind of cheat(s) at work here. At one time, one of the PCs I used at the office allowed me to vote for one show six times every six hours. Now that machine got reconfigured and its HD scrubbed, and when I used it again, the cheat capability was gone. I asked my techies if anything specail had been done to the browese or comms on that box, and all on of them could remember was some tweaking on the IE browser installed. But no one could remember what was done (and I'm not the kind of boss who will send one of my people diving into the deep backups to reconstruct the settings for that particular browser.)

I think it has something to do with removing cookies, but I never had the time to mess with it.

Well, even assuming that there are /some/ folks on at least one other show voting team padding the vote (and I've mentioned this about TV Tally in the past), what do y'all want to do? Quit entirely, keep playing legitimately and win a legitimate victory, or turn their own methods against 'em and try to beat 'em at their own game?

I had quit TV Tally entirely for quite some while after I learned that it was easily cheated on; it wasn't worth the extra effort while TV Vote was going on, but it's something to do, now.

We could simply keep voting and measure our own, legitimate efforts and ignore the results we see from the other side; I have been watching this, and I think that those who may be cheating have at least learned subtlety, and are only padding the score enough to stay just ahead of us, now.

Or (and I wouldn't seriously advocate this course) we could cheat. I happen to know how they do it, though I don't use the method, myself. Then TV Tally truly WOULD be a waste of our time.

I suggest we keep voting, without cheating, and simply ignore Jericho's score. You can legitimately vote once per six hours for each of three shows; anything beyond that is cheating, including using a cheat to "make up" a vote you weren't able to make on time.

Not sure which trick you mean, FG... You can legitimately vote once for each of three different shows, once every 6 hours, though it's amazingly simple to squeeze in more votes, should one care to.

Me, I just figure we can just vote honorably, and disregard the "success" of such as don't scruple so much. By the way, you can also post reviews of shows (such as Firefly) at TV Tally, as well as post comments on their home page, if you register.

Still without power at the house :( Power co. is saying Saturday now. I'll believe it when it comes on.
Waiting for parts to come in so's I can get the saw running again (chain oiler pump failed). Oh well, it needed a good cleaning & sharpening anyway.
It's kinda neat to hear all the kids outside playing in the evening.
Mini-Me has decided that without electricity, but with running water, we're at approximately the technology level of the Roman Empire while at home (but with copper pipes instead of lead ones).

Hope you get things powered up soon, FT - I do recall an ice storm in Colorado that left the city without power for days; as it was winter, things were quite interesting. I had a houseful of friends over as I did have a gas log fireplace that worked so we were warm at least.

However, over at weekinwhedon, the Angelites have caught on to our stealthy advance and are voting. While we were behind 1017 votes two days ago, today we are behind 1081. We gonna need some more voters.

We are advancing nicely at BBC, and should be up to 40 percent in another week. Unless the Star Wars community finds out and comes back. Oh, wait, they tried that once before and lost....

Damn, the Scapers muscled Summer out of first place. Anyway, nice bunch of new links. Put those links at the top of the thread, so more people catch it on their way in.

Meanwhile, we sort of have a tie with Jericho at Tvtally, and at weekinshwhedon were are getting hammered by the now alerted Angelites. We need more voters over there. Everyone counts, since only a few dozen people are voting each day. Today we are 1072 votes behind, yesterday it was 1081 (and a week ago it was 1071, the Angelites only got after us in the last few days.)

Same deal at BBC, but there we are pulling ahead, and the Star War community is still, well, doing whatever they do that keeps them comfortably numb.
