Shades of "A Beautiful Mind" with Russel Crowe.
Not bad if they don't have you chasing after imaginary spy networks. Of course it makes life more interesting. At least more interesting then mine.
As for birthdays, it is mandatory to bring something to work to and to munch on. The more unhealthy the better. I go for donuts. That is about all I do for my birthday. I don't have a cat. My landlord won't let us have pets.

I worked at a mental health center whilst in college. (3rd shift mostly - had to make rent.) Anyway, a lady there who really saw/heard people who weren't there said this to me late one evening:
"You know, it really sucks seeing people that aren't there. On the plus side, I'm never lonely."

I'm with Zeek. -->

Office functions are usually not that fun, and I tend to avoid the ones that aren't mandatory, unless there's food involved. I'll take free (or relatively cheap) food whenever I can.
As for imaginary friends, I say you all are. Everything that exists is just in my mind (prove me wrong), so all of the people I call friends must be made-up.

Yeah because it was believed that AIDS was contracted from the monkeys. Not the band but the animal. And we just wanted to deal with that issue - just a couple of points. Just changing the attitude towards AIDS from being "Eww AIDSy" to more like "Oh! Fun monkey disease"

After almost 9 years, I'm pretty tired of office celebrations. I can't tell you how many parties and/or gifts I've paid into. We do parties right here, too. We're talking lots of loot for the celebrated. Thankfully company wide parties are limited to the big ocassions only: weddings, babies, retirement. I do get jaded, however, thinking of all the money I've spent and will never see a return on my investment. Is that wrong? :D At this point, I'm probably not goign to get married, and the baby thing is a no go, so I will never be among the celebrated.

And it's kinda wrong that you don't get an actual lunch break, but that's life.
Chicago Bears - NFL team. Guess where they're from?

Yes, it is possible that you are quite imaginary.
