Hey WhoseZit, shouldn't you be there recreating '68? It looks like you're missing all the fun!

Of course, what Rush and the rest of the lunatic fringe missed completely, was the things that '68 and '08 have in common: In both instances, we were deeply involved in wars that were going nowhere, and the protesters weren't protesting a particular PARTY, they were protesting THOSE IN POWER at the time. In '68, it was the Dems; in '08, it's the Rethuglicans.

Those are "Unarrestors" and yes, I recognize even which bloc they are from.

Apparently said cop just randomly decided he didn't like one guys looks and clouted him (the video doesn't have that part, but that's what incited someone to roll tape) and then started dragging them without so much as an explicable reason why - drawing the attention and ire of several unarrestors lurking nearby.

And in a typical fit of "how dare you peons" rage he sprays everyone in sight, which I will acknowledge was tactically a smart thing to do given the potential for being ripped limb from limb - but his body language and the lack of any realistic, visible threat made that more a gesture of pique more than anything else, cause he should NOT have waded into the crowd like that without backup to begin with.

He should be thankful they weren't... "serious".

In Miami, specifically, and a few other places, Anarchists have been caught alone by police while travelling to-from a protest in areas with no witnesses or surveillence, and in every case, were pretty severely beaten, one was permanently crippled.

That cop should be damn thankful nobody felt like returning the favor.

They wanted a "War", and act like a goddamn invading army, waging their "War on Drugs/Crime/Whatever" *ON* the citizens and treating them like enemy forces - what the hell did they expect would happen in return ?

I noted this phenom originally outside of protest/suppression, but rather in the neighborhood which I grew up, the BCPD treated the community like an enemy for so many years, that the community reacted TO them like one, and thus they could not respond with anything less than an overwhelming show of force for anything because of the very real possibility of the locals doing them harm.

Which of course leads to wasted resources, no support from the community gone hostile to them, and an inability to do their job effectively, if they even bother to do it in the first place, because the simplest task requires massive force to protect the officers carrying it out.

And if you think that sounds a lot like the situation the US Army faces in Iraq - you ain't alone.

When Police treat the citizens like they're the enemy, eventually that does become a self-fulfilling prophecy...

And they have only themselves and their own conduct to blame for it.

No, it ain't "serious" yet, but things continue in this vein, mark my words, in SOME neighborhoods, folk might start taking a page from Baghdad - and I really, REALLY don't wanna see IEDs, cause of the massive potential for harm to innocents and bystanders.

But they wanted a "war" so bad, acting like jacked up supersoldiers in all their badass intimidating playtoys....

Gonna come a time, when they are going to HAVE to decide whether we citizens are protectees, or the enemy - and if the latter, then face the consequences of that decision.

Just a quick note,

The bloc I run with is actually quite professional for a buncha Anarchists, their idea man and more or less spirital leader is a former E-6 and a large percentage of them are former vets, all of em acting in concert by voluntary association rather than under orders, and they're quite disciplined and coordinated.

Our SOP for individual "rowdies" be they police or protestor, is a simple non-violent area removal, the nearest four each grab a limb, put them in the air, carry them off to one side and gently place them on the sidewalk before resuming order of march.

Oh, I did mention these are NOT small guys, most of em, right ?

Against a line advance, we just stand there, big guys to the front, little guys to the flank, with a pullback V retreat plan and established rally points if things go south on us.

My main job is to keep folk from wandering off alone and intercept agents provocatuer before any problems arise - it's a LOT like herding cats, sometimes.

Heh, none of us really gives a damn about race, but it does work to our advantage when the police shills and spies get caught out cause they didn't quite realize that the itty bitty white guy was WITH those big dark guys.

Undercover cops really, REALLY do NOT like you standing less than a foot behind them, and so it amuses me to get that close while they're looking for a way to sneak into the block, and quitely ask "Can I help you officer ?"

So far not a one hasn't blown himself at this point, of course, it helps that the damn fools use unscured radio com on known frequencies, too.

Teach a fish to swim, why don't ya ?

Our comm-tech is actually quite good, given that we more or less stole him from the army by greasing a couple palms to make that pesky stop-loss problem go away, something for which we have his eternal gratitude, and we pay well besides.

Not to mention he still has his marriage, home and career, unlike most of the others who were repeatedly stop-lossed.

Money can't buy loyalty, DEEDS buy loyalty.

Once you understand this, recruiting solid people is easy.

The only thing that would make that video funnier is if the cop had felt his life was threatened by the "Unarrestor" and put a bullet in his chest. I highly recommend you don't try that in Florida!
