Fine I'll get the ball rolling on a ponder that has plenty of potential to explode into argument.
Ponder: Is Zeek pure evil?
Reason: A really nice lady at work found out this week that her sister has cancer and it's apparently in an advanced stage. The sister has no health insurance because she runs her own wallpapering "business" it's really just her. Anyway she's all upset that there isn't some free healthcare to take care of her and get her surgery and everything. To me that's the risk she was running. She took a job she enjoyed but didn't afford health care. She was saying her own happiness was worth more than her health to her and now it's time to pay the piper. I don't deny that it's sad, but it's the way the world works. If I didn't want to be financially secure I certainly wouldn't work a job that takes up as much of my time and effort as the one I work now. I just think it's BS to say that there should be free healthcare to take care of this lady.
Am I evil for thinking that?

Um ok then I must be evil too..'cause there are several companies out ther that ofer reasonable ( about $75-100 a month) health insurance to self employed and temporarily uninsured. I know 'cause I am using one right now to cover the gap between my last job's insurance ending and my new job's insurance starting. If I had chosen to not get temp health insurance and I got sick, I'd think it was my own supid fault for not getting insurance. So while it's really sad this woman is sick, she could easily have procured insurance for herself while she worked her own business. She made the choice not to get insurance and that sucks for her... I am not unsympathetic , but it's a bit like people who get a job without retirement benefits and don't put anything into savings or into a 401K and then getting all upset that they don't have retirement...( note to all even if it's like $20 a month start a 401K right now!!!)
However I do think this country needs to get on the universal health care wagon.. it's ridiculous that we have to choose to work unfulfilling jobs, or sacrafice huge chunks of our paychecks in order to take care of basic needs like medical care. Every other civilized country has universal health care and yes their taxes are higher, but hey if you consider how much it costs employers to provide benefits and how much workers pay for them, it'd even otu right quick:) Plus those snotty insurance companies wouldn't be raking in billions per year ( almost as irritating as watching the record profits of the oil companies increase every quarter)

Well, evil or not. I just want to eat lunch.
ADD: Had to explain to one of our boys the reasons why sexual comments and getures are not acceptable within the shelter. Really sucks when you have to tell a kid that statistically half the girls under the age of 15 later report that they were sexually molested or assaulted by this age. I did like telling him about the guys in PC ward and how they, if put in general population are favorites with their cellies.
Say it with me now... bitch.

Ah the joys of your job ( and mine come to think of it as I just set up a training for dealing with kids who masturbate in class)
Note don't tell them it's a bathroom only activity as they will ask to be excused and never come back

lol Seriously? Kids these days. I tell ya if a kid was caught doing that in my gradeschool they'd never live it down. That would be the #1 thing everyone knew about them until graduation.

Is it self defense to tear someone's head off when you ask them if they took care of the issue you emailed them about a week ago and they say, "Oh I think I deleted that without reading it. Was I supposed to do something?"? He's threatening my sanity. Isn't that a good enough self defensish reason? "Oops well if you forward that to me I can do the 5 second task now...too bad you still have to rerun a bunch of programs that will take hours and make you work late on a Friday cause I was a jackass." *^$%#

Hmm well I can see being really irriated. From now on mark your emaisl urgent and priority and do that task attached thingy that turns them red..plus put on a return receipt thing and cc his boss! That should do it:) HUGS Mind you that'll take a minute, but at least then if he doesn't do it you can be justifiably homicidal ( but I hate to tell you most people are that stupid/self involved/ incompetent)
