I was out of town visiting some friends. One of them said I lent me and a friend the series and we watched the DVD that night. After watching the first episode, I was like "this is the greatest sci fi show ever." Then I watched the rest of it and found out I was right.

A friend of mine would tape them when they originally aired. He was always telling me about it, but I wasn't much of a TV person. I was a sci-fi fan, but mainly just movies. After Firefly was cancelled, he had taped Serenity. I was at his house and he was like, You've got to see this." So, he put it in, but I really didn't remember much about it other than Mal shooting Dobson. There were other things going on so the TV was kind of just background noise. Wasn't really paying attention.

After the DVDs came out, I was visiting him again. We were just kind of sitting around and he didn't say a word. He just got up and popped in Out of Gas. I was interested. Then, he showed me Shindig. I was in love with Kaylee. Then came Serenity. Even though I had seen little bits and pieces of it months before when he showed me the taped version, it was like seeing it for the first time! My attention was NOT divided this time. I was hooked and absolutly in love with the characters, the world, and the show!

He was living in Memphis at the time and I was about a 2 hour drive away. After I left his place, I went to Best Buy and bought the box set before I got home. I also called some friends up and told them to meet me at the house. I had something to show them! I was unwrapping the box set as I was walking in the door and made 2 more Browncoats that night!

Firefly is my favorite TV show of all time. I can't see anything else coming close!

Well, I missed everything.

My brother and my Dad saw the film at the cinema, but it was a 15 and I wasn't, so I couldn't go. Then my Dad bought the Firefly DVD, and he was painting my brother's room and watching it at the same time.

I wanted to help paint, but I didn't wanna watch Sci-Fi - he refused to turn it off, though, so I watched with him.

I remember, he was on Shindig, and ever since then I've become an addict.

The boxset was in my room so often my Dad just gave it to me. I was well chuffed.

My husband received the box set on DVD for his b-day a few years back. Neither of us had ever heard of it but his friend was confidant we would love it. I first saw bits and pieces of a couple episodes in passing and thought, "this looks kinda lame!" I was soon proven drastically wrong when my hubby made me sit down and actually watch the first couple of episodes. I am proud to say I was half hooked by the opening theme song and completely mowed under by the end of the first episode. I proceeded to stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching the rest of them because I couldn't bear to stop! River is my favorite character but I absolutely fell in love with the stubborn relationship between Mal and Inara. Picture me yelling a the TV "Just kiss for crying out loud! You know you want to!" Anyway, that is my story, and I can only hope and wish we see something new from that world in the near future!

My brother in law had been a fan of Buffy/Angel and watched Firefly, not sure when tho. He ended up coming to live with us for a while, and kept talking about this series he knew I would like. I was interested, but didn't have time/money to pursue finding out more. Then he bought the series on dvd, and kept telling me I needed to watch it. Well, still felt I had no time, until he saw me sitting watching tv on a day off. He went up to his room, grabbed the first disk, and walked up to the tv, said"You're watching it, right now" and put it in. Well, I loved 'Serenity', how Joss didn't make noise in space, and the characters were just great. I have since bought the series, several times, and have both versions of the movie, and spend lots of time here, so I am a Firefly whore!

I hope you don't mind my laziness in copying this from my FFF.net profile but here is the story on how I discovered Firefly:

Well, a little backstory about how I even started watching Firefly. Like a few others here, I came to Firefly very late in the game. I had a friend who kept bugging me about this show called "Buffy....". I mean BUGGING me! It got to the point where it was almost intervention time! lol Anyways, I caught an episode of Buffy somewhere in the 6th season and thought, "Why is this redheaded girl's hair now black?!?!" Then, a little while later, I catch a 3rd season episode of Angel and think, "Who the heck is this Gunn character and why is that girl named Fred?!?!" Well that was it, I just knew these shows were stupid! What was I thinking? ppfffttt!!!

Well, suffice it to say, I gave Buffy another chance. I actually rented the only (it seemed) VHS tapes of Buffy I could find. I liked what I saw so I bought the 1st season of Buffy on DVD. With every boxset I bought (both Buffy and Angel) it just got better and better. It was like a frickin' drug!! I couldn't stop myself.

Then a good friend of mine (who I had met through an Angel website) started suggesting that I watch this "Firefly" show as well. ("You've GOT to get the DVD's! They are just awesome!") Well, by this time, money was tight and I really couldn't justify buying them right then. Thank the gods for the Sci-Fi channel! I found out they would be showing the episodes and I was so freakin' happy!

So, to make a long story even longer, the scene that really reeled me into this show was the same scene that was showed over and over again in the Sci-Fi promos....from "War Stories"....when Mal is being choked by Niska's henchman and Zoe says something like, "This is something the cap'n has to do for himself." Through Mal's muffled throat comes the pathetic cry, "No it isn't....no it isn't!"

Ya just can't write stuff like that! (Oh wait a minute, yes you can!!)

I never watched the series when it was originally aired. Which was odd because I usually like Sci-Fi shows and I think it happened to be on right after as show I did watch "John Doe"...

Anyway... I heard about the movie and had my DVR record it. I kept it on my DVR for months without watching it as I wanted to see some of the series first for at least a background to what was going on. So then about a year ago I was taking a business trip and I typically load up with some shows on iTunes I can watch at the airport, on planes, at the hotel etc... So I decided to purchase a few of the Firefly shows for my trip. On the trip I started watching them, and was so hooked I actually went looking for the Firefly Series DVD's while still on the trip. When I got back I finished watching the series and the movie over a weekend and have watched them over and over again since!!!

I'm pretty ticked off at myself for not catching it earlier, not that my viewership would have made a difference in it being cancelled so early... but still....
