(Reposted from an old TV Vote discussion on another forum; folks started posting in limerick and haiku, so... I just had to write an English-style sonnet to Firefly on TV Vote):
"Firefly on TV Vote" (11/09/07)
Devotion's purest muse must be the poll
Who leads us hour by hour to Vump or Bote
Which fire resides deep in each voter's soul
Quenched only by the casting of a vote
Yet sixty minutes pass and then we hark
Rekindling of insistent inner flame
A conflagration grown out of the spark
For Firefly pre-eminence to claim
So early-rising we, or, late to bed
Return to our computers' warming glow
For, never will we have it gloating said
That, having reached the top, we were brought low
So, check the box, and add your vote to mine
And Firefly the shiniest will shine!
(I attributed two syllables to the "fire" in "Firefly," per the implicit variant pronunciation in the dictionary, as well as per artistic license.)
