Hey guys, not been in here for ages! I've missed you all. Just been driving round the country enjoying my holiday.

Hey! I missed Tristan! Wow, it would have been so cool to say hi to the great one!

So I guess the majority of you are either still away at, or recovering from, Comic-con.

*Sulks* I sooo nearly bit the bullet and caught a plane out there but, what with new flat, I could not afford it this year.

I therefore needs me some vicarious gossip. Tell me the hot new news then peeps (I already know one tid-bit, don't I MsB! )

A cure for insanity, por favor, my father is insane.

He arbitrarily decided today was mowing day- when it's 100 degrees and 45% humidity. We have a mini-field to the left of our *yard*, and for some odd reason Dad always mows that first. We had also been letting the middle-ish section of grass to grow, because we have a neighbor who wanted to put a couple ponys out there. And then he took them off, so Dad wanted to mow the entire field. Between the two of us, we got all the shorter parts that had been mowed before all mowed.... and then the riding lawn mower broke. So Dad lost his mind and started mowing that section with the push-mower. This grass is/was knee-high!! >_<

Oh dear, that brings back memories.

>< we used to have a mini field next to our yard (there is now a house there) and dad used to mow it with the push mower like every other week.

well there were two trees in this small patch of land, and my dad's pretty tall, so the lower branches fall a lil below head height (dont get ahead of me here)

He decides to mow the grass..in the dark. Now its not night yet, but the sun is setting so its kinda dim out and hard to see, and my dad's pretty much legally blind without contacts or glasses (he was wearing contacts at this point) anyway, apparently he didnt see one of the branches.

needless to say, mom and i were in the kitchen talking, and all of a sudden dad walks in bleeding out his skull.

so i know where you're comin from with the whole mowing a field -- and mowing a field with a push mower @_@ I dont know why men--fathers in this case--do the odd and frequently illogical things they do. >< wish i could help, but dad's insane as well. much luck with finding a cure though. lemme know if u find one ><

Well, I asked mom why Dad wanted that field mowed so ad at one point (not real recent, a couple weeks ago), and she said it was about him growing up in the city(s), where land is scarce, so having that field makes him feel really rich- except just HAVING it right next to the yard, with no fence or anything, isn't enough, it has to be mowed in order to be a *yard*. Which sucks because it's a waste of money and time, and he'll often make me mow that field, and he'll always mow the damn field FIRST, instead of making sure we don't have to wade through grass just walking outside to go get the mail or something. >_<

Anyone else got a cure for insanity?

><; well at least she had an answer that makes sense. the only explanation i can offer for my dad is "ugh, it's dad." even my mom couldnt explain it to me :-P still dont see why he *has* to mow the field though..i mean, its still yours, whether u mow it or not, and mowing it first doesnt serve much of a purpose if your own lawn is being overgrown :-P i dunno, its a ponder.

I also have a stubborn to the point of insanity dad. And he's getting to old for the manic and dangerous DIY projects he insists on completing.

Does anyone have a way of changing the mind, or diverting, a stubborn fool before they kill themselves (from such things as the night mowing mentioned above, or climbing ladders to fix rooves just before a storm like mine...etc!)

erm, Golf?

hey all,

maths to do, but thought I'd say hey as I was dragged out of the office for two days back end last week and only stopped rushing round this morning!

Done and hour and a half unpaid overtime last two days in the evening and went up to Manchester yesterday so other half could watch her football team.

Anyway, must get on,

good to see you Ems and good luck to all those with crazy/stubborn dads
