Yup, you read right, we're under a DOS attack and the bots are going nuts trying to inject more bad scripts all over the place.

From what I can tell, they're coming from Egypt, Taiwan, Russia, and Brazil at the moment. Things are going to be rough for a while until all this passes.

I feel for ya, man. In my corner of the world, the recent increase of SQL injection attacks has been a real pain (especially if you are up overnight trying to fix things.)

I gotta plead complete ignorance here but what is a DOS? and an SQL was it? And why hack, to what gains?

In this instance DOS refers to a Denial Of Service attack. Which is what it's called when somebody tries to jam up the server with spurious page requests so legitimate users can't get to the content. SQL is the type of database that the site runs on.
