The dark side may have cookies but the light side has brownies. Gooey fudge brownies all hot and moist fresh out of the oven. Smell the brownies darkside? You can't have them. They are for light side only. Tee hee.

Hey just because we're the good guys doesn't mean we can't be total bastards once in a while.

Brownies are too sweet and chocolatey for me, and so are cookies. Zero, I'll join your empire if I get to make name suggestions and have a high position. In return, I shall bring you my hypnotized army and brilliant general. Deal?

It has actually been a while since the site has had problems. I remember when I first signed on and a week later it colapsed. I finally had sign up again. It refused to accept my password. Heavon forbid. So I have gotten spoiled this last year because the site has been operating pretty good.

Still looking for the cookies.

Sadly yes I know. Art, then music, then girls sports, then science, then math, then english. Football will always be fully funded though so at least our undereducated masses will know how to throw a wicked block, when they can get away with clipping, and the best ways to evade testing for steroids.

To be fair the problems we are decrying began long before NCLB. Not defending NCLB per se as it is a deeply flawed bit of legislation but schools were trimming away at the important arts stuff long before it was a gleam in any elected officials eye.

So I was watching Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog again and I was hit with a stunning revelation. While Penny talked about her date with Captain Hammer Billy was driving a SPORK into his leg, Dr. Horrible is trying to join the Evil LEAGUE of Evil, and in the final confrontation people were drawn to the press conference like LEMMINGS to water.

Do you know what that means? Mutant Enemy are totally shouting out to our little thread!

Edit: BTW I got my Dr. Horrible Fan Shirt today. Awesome it is.

You count one pink sheep, then a purple one, then you count all the blue ones; then you count a couple purple sheep, then three pink sheep, and count all the red sheep; then you count all the purple sheep, five pink sheep, and two green ones. Then you count one pink sheep, one black sheep, another pink sheep, one white sheep, one pink sheep, a couple yellow and orange sheep and you're done! Well, if you want to count the brown sheep, you altranate those with the rest of the pink sheep left uncounted.

I'm not sure. It is old. It could and probably does date back to the 1800's. We said it when I was a child. And, no, not in the 1800's. had to nip that in the bud before you guys started calling me old as dirt. Old as dust; yeah. Old as dirt; no.

I know there was a true to life Lizzie Bordon, who according to the children's rhyme, "Gave her mother 40 wacks and when she saw what she had doe gave her father 41." So these childhood phrases have some origin in them. But years go by and they are lost.

You have a time machine? Could I use it some time? I have some mistakes I need to correct and that would really be handy.

I could go back in time and tell myself not to call that police officer a lard head.

That would take me off the "usual suspects" list the department has on me. Hate getting yanked outta work, especially on a busy day is a pain.

Then there was the time with the cat. Never mind. Will let the cat thing go since no one saw it.

A time machime really would help out a lot.

My best guess, and it is only a guess, is that it was originally something like, "All in. All in. All come free," but that over time the chant changed to the form it's heard in now either because it was easier for kids to scream or because it sounded funny or some such. That or there was this one kid named Ollie whose family had a brace or two of oxen (for plowing the fields or whatnot) Only he was really good at hiding and the oxen often got out of the barn leading to the potential for trampling so when the kids were playing hide and seek and the oxen got loose the other kids all had to start screaming "Ollie, Ollie, the oxen are free." so old "hard to find" Ollie didn't get trampled to death.

Also Lizzie Borden was in fact acquitted. Plus if you follow the generally accepted time line for the crime she would have killed her father and then her stepmother not the other way around as the rhyme alleges. Or that's what I remember hearing once.

All in becomes Ollie when you drop the N. All come becomes oxen when "allc" is ground down to ox and "ome" gets slurred to en. Free remains free.

When playing the game of hide and seek if the seeker is unable to locate the hiders after a reasonable time and wants to just give up they use that chant. I should think it's fairly obvious what those words mean in that context, "You can come in now I've stopped looking"
