I too am a huge fan of the Burn Notice.

Mmmmm... Fiona!

I had a lot of fun watching the first ep of season 2. I loved the two brief scenes with Michael and his Mom (rich and layered without overdoing it). The last scene with Fiona was a piece of lovely melancholy with a touch of bittersweet humor.
It was great to see Sam, too--brief but great scenes--funny too. Loved the machinations of getting into the target's building and the logistics of going through the floor, and the voiceovers on how spooks kill time during interminable waits and on the relative merits of various kinds of bullets for different applications (the one for trashing the server vs. the one he uses for blasting the window ) :)

I guess my quibble is I didn't see enough wheels turning and intensity about the meta-story taking up from where we left off last season. And the light cat and mouse act at the end with Claire doesn't quite jibe with the utter ruthlessness of some of the tactics we've seen.

Still, loving it, and I wants me some more :)

I loved the episode although I was dissapointed in some ways. It really bothered me that after all the lead up, the driving off to be loaded up in a truck destined for goodness knows where and all the goodbyes, he's back in two days with nothing having changed.

That for me was a major letdown. As my wife pointed out, it is kind of in keeping with the show though since thinking he was getting further than he actually was has been a theme throughout.

I'm surprised nobody's commented about this but it was kinda neat seeing Tricia Helfer on this. Honestly, if I hadn't read the name and seen a video interview I wouldn't have recognized her from BSG.

Oh I had heard some reviewers who were also really bothered by this, but I felt it was pretty clever...
from my POV it is just another way these people (the govt? or some one connected w/the government?) are jerking him around!

Nothing changes, except now they expect him to dance to their tune : risk his life for them without pay or any hope of getting the burn notice lifted!

Now he has a voice and a face to search for....
so it is more personal and more intense...
while we still get to enjoy Sam, Fiona, and Michael's Mom!
(all good in my opinion)

how can you live without cable?

of course I used to do that during the Summer (cancel cable for a few months) but ever since they started having new shows like Monk, Eureka, The Closer, etc...
I had to keep it all year round.

'Cause here it's $65/month.

Tricia is quite an addition to the show IMO- she does manipulative SO well.

No cash, no credit Chrisisall

Second ep of the new season did NOT disappoint! This show is golden- not a bad one in the bunch!!!
The Mike & his Mom thing is even more interesting than ever. For a series whose strengths are the characters & the humour, the agent-y twists & turns are excellent.

Solid fan Chrisisall
