I am glad and proud to finally join this incredible experience. I have been a huge fan of Sci/Fi, Fantasy genres almost my entire life. I sort of brushed off Firefly in 2002 and did not watch. It was not until last year that I rented Serenity on a whim and man was I hooked. I immediately bought the series, the comic book sets, the novel and every piece of "Material from the Verse" that I can get my hands on.
I have shared this series with other friends that enjoy this type of entertainment and they came to the same realization that I did. This was quite possibly the greatest show to be canceled. WE are all hooked and are presently harvesting a grassroots following in West Texas. At least, amongst those we know.
Thank you for having this available and I am glad to be here. Late, but here and that is ultimately the goal, right?
AFter all, we're too pretty to die...

Welcome aboard, Druid. Er, you know that now you will never leave, right?
Once you've had your first hit of FF-goodness, you're addicted. Even the most aloof non-team player in the world can find themselves sucked in.

Oh, Druid - I saw Serenity on cable two years ago - husband watched it too - bought the series and oh my - now I vote every hour for Firefly in the bestTVshow ever poll (which is ending very soon and if you check out the thread you'll see browncoats are trying for a real (pride only) prize) - I am a marching member of the 76th Independent Army Battalion ( and I NEVER did anything like that before) and I am obsessed with Firefly!! So, yeah, understand completely the 'late to the party - but ready to go' feelings you have. Welcome, welcome - we are growing stronger every week and we LOVE the enthusiasm of those who JUST found the 'verse!

WELCOME! It is awesome, isn't it?
Did you read Joss' Serenity Companion, and Firefly Companion?
(the books that tell the 'making of' back stage stuff and include the original scripts?
Joss Whedon is an amazing author creator and you might want to give Buffy & Angel a try (because some of our BDHs do show up... and seeing Adam 'Jayne' Baldwin as Hamilton in Angel's final season was very awesome). They are fantasy, not sci-fi, but have the same tight/funny writing and great characters.
Also next week Joss is bringing Doctor Horrible to the internet, starring Nathan 'Mal' Fillion singing!!!
And next year (Jan 2009) there will be a new TV show, which will have sci-fi elements, called Dollhouse.....
So while I wait for the day that I'll get more Firefly/Serenity, I'm glad to know that Joss is still cranking out some fun for me to enjoy!
New Firefly fans should check this out: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=15816
DON'T MISS DR.HORRIBLE! Nathan Fillion sings!!!!!

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. I haven't had t.v. reception in almost a decade, so I missed the show when it first came out. Borrowed it later from a friend on dvd, and now here I am, voting all day long, converting friends, trying to find the perfect brown coat. I don't know what it is about this show that makes people so passionate, but judging from the people around here, we aren't the only ones!

the funniest irony of this whole experience was that I watched Buffy and Angel quite a bit. That is what makes the whole Firefly miscue even more shocking for me.
Well the old adage holds true, "better late than never"...
Keep up the fight!! The Alliance will weaken!

Welcome home, Druid! My mouse says you're #32482 on the roster, and I say "The more, the merrier."
Newbies who announce themselves are treated to
(right here)Mudder's Milk
(and here)Strawberries and Cream
and I think I need to fill in for FollowMal while she's doing KNTR & other Captainy charities, so
*flip! snap!* here is a virtual browncoat, guaranteed to fit. Patch-kit in left inside pocket in case of bullet exchanges...
Buffet is upstairs in the galley, and a fresh supply of ice-planets in the cooler, bottom shelf.
Please do not step on ShipsCat or into her dish.
