wtf no serenity blu ray

Im getting a ps3 this week and have already pre ordered it to arrive tomorrow.I was expecting to get serenity on blu ray to watch this weekend but have just found out there is no blu ray version planned and only the hd dvd available. can any one advise any scifi goodness to tide me over til the people at universal and f*x get their acts together and release both firefly and serenity on blu ray thanx miike

Firefly has already been announced for Blu-Ray, probably later this year (I don't think a date has been set). Universal hasn't even started putting out movies on Blu Ray, yet. Their first ones come out the 22nd of this month, and are mainly new releases, or movies tied to some of their summer releases. And though Serenity was available for HD-DVD, Blu Ray uses different encoding structures, so they can't just use the same master. They'll have to go back and re-encode Serenity for Blu Ray.

So, be patient. It'll happen, but it's still a new format, and Universal is only just getting started with it.
