Does anyone know where Badgar comes from, and where Wash comes from?

Badger is from Dyton Colony (Shindig)

Wash is from somewhere very industrial and polluted (Our Mrs Reynolds) but from his speech patterns, it's more Core than not. It might be on his flight jacket patch, the name of his school, but I can't make it out.
