I saw it on DVD over the weekend, and liked it a lot. Some amazing imagery...a visual feast. Anybody see it? What'd ya think?

Lena Heady, aka Sarah Connor, has a role as the Queen, as she actually shows some good acting.

I did! I loved it! It was alittle lame but still excellent! I love how they made it too look like a comic book.

Slick, stylish, visually gorgeous, lots of blood, excellent fight choreography, loved the humour and thought that Gerard Butler was funny, intense and had great screen presence.

Also, it was the first time that I saw Lena Heady, before she appeared in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I really liked her role in that movie. She had a strong part.

It was nice to see Michael Fassbender as part of the supporting cast. I hadn't seen him on screen since the short lived UK supernatural drama 'Hex.' The guy was so charismatic and evil on that.

Yeah.. I really liked the movie. In fact, I haven't seen it in a while. Methinks I'll whack it into the DvD player tonight.

There were a few times it was hard to tell what was "real" and what was cgi. Where did they find all those 6-pack abs guys? Not in my neighborhood! The 2 coolest things for me were the arrows blackening the sky as they arched over, and the initial appearance of Xerxes being carried in that enormous throne on the backs of slaves.

I feel the same......in fact, with so many stunning visuals, it almost qualifies as science fiction for me. Thanks for your response.

I highly doubt that they all had 6-packs. Most likely, there was body make-up and lighting/cg/etc to achieve the effects.

I love this movie! When you watch Butler's performance a few times you realize just how perfect it was, and that maybe no one around could have done it any better. Much like Nathan as Mal, or Shatner as Kirk, Gerard Butler is forever Leonides in my mind.

I'll agree that most of it was as historically accurate as you can get (many of the one-liners are even correct), but the fight sequences of the Spartans breaking ranks & wading into the oncoming waves of Persians - while visually stunning & a whole lot of fun - would not have happened. The Spartans held for as long as they did because they were the worlds first heavy infantry. Each man protected the man next to him, shields overlapped, spears thrusting from below while the second rank braced them & thrust spears from above. The Persian light infantry (no formations, little to no shields or armor) were shredded like meat in a grinder. I have no doubt that individual Spartans were a match for anyone in single combat, but their true superiority was their phalanx.
