I came early enough to get my screenname on FFF. I was hooked from the moment Mal kicked an unarmed man into the ship's engine on Sept 20, 2002.
You just don't see that kind of plot on TV.

I think it is going on two years now, I was at Best Buys looking for something to buy and not having any idea what I wanted to watch. This typical of me. I never have a specific idea what I am going to get.
So FOX has their own little section of DVD's at the store. I see this SciFi set. I look at it and see Ron Glass is in it. Well I thought Ron Glass was great in "Barney Miller" so I buy it and start watching the first episode.
I have to ask myself everytime I watch through this series why it was taken of the air. This is the best SciFi I have ever seen. I am 57 years old and have witnessed just about every SciFi space opera TV show ever produced, from Rocky Jones Space Ranger through all the Star Trek series and nothing tops this.
I can hear Mal yelling at Kaylee about Space Monkeys again and again and continue to enjoy it.
To see Jayne in his orange knit cap brings tears to my eyes.
There may only be 14 episodes and one film, but I have them to watch whenever I want.
I am happy.

Okay, here's another question esp. for the other "original" viewers: How did you all finally end up here at FFF.net?
I got here trying to find out what the hell happened to the 2hr pilot that I "missed".
Good question, Moose! One more original viewer here, and I still have my Fox broadcast tapes (except for "Ariel", longish story).
I found this place about July of '03. I remember seeing something on-line about a continuing fanbase for the show, and decided to search for other folks who were wearing out their VHS tapes re-watching episodes too. Lurked for better than 6 months, but even back then I was checking the site daily (still do!). Finally joined up on Valentine's day of '04. Very Geek of me, yes?
MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

Oh, and just in case anyone was confused, the registration page that you see after you do the survey is only if you want to create your own surveys.
Anyway, thanks guys.
There was a survey?

I'm one of those that kick myself repeatedly for not watching when it was on. I was a fan of Buffy and then Angel from their very first episodes. When I heard about Joss' new series about space cowboys- i balked. I HATE sci-fi, so i didn't think it would be any different for Firefly. Boy, was i wrong!
I co-worker of mine in November '04 was a big Joss fan as well and she asked if I had ever seen Firefly. Based on her recommendation I rented the first 2 discs from Netflix and then bought the set. I joined the fandom right during the exitement of the movie coming out and enjoyed going to the prescreening of Serenity in my area.
I found FFF.net shortly after finishing the series looking for answers as to why this wonderful show was cancelled. I lurked for many months before joining.
That's my story. =)
