Well, for uploading thing on fff.net, photobucket links work well. There's a tutorial here- http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=5&t=29479 but the short story is to save the image you like on your comp, transfer it to photobucket, and then post the direct link here 
Though if you're lazy, what you can do if someone else is using a direct link, is to reply with a quote, find the link they used, and copy+paste- that's what I usually do with other people's goodies. The bad thing about using this method, though, is that if they delete or move the image, the link won't work (if they're using photobucket- don't know about other places)
