Quote:Oh, the '80s were my growin' up decade (not that I ever grew up =^[.]~=), so the music has a strong, nostalgic significance to me. Adam Ant was one of those light, "fun" musical acts that I associate with carefree, simpler times.

Manual mornin' stats VOMP!
Buffy is still in need of a little more support to make the pass for the Hall of Fame, while Angel needs a LOT to advance!
Also, based on RL's announcement that he will end the Polls when the combined total votes between the Top 40 and the Nominations reaches 10 million (but no later than January, 2009), 94.57 days remain. If we can average 1,000 Firefly votes/day, we can reach 750,000, three-quarters of a million votes! Let's shoot for that as a meaningful goal, and keep the daily average up!

ALL three links work for voting, so if you have trouble, you can try an alternate address instead.
You can vote for more as many Top 40 shows as you like, once every hour. You can only nominate one show per hour, at:

Download the FlyVote voting timer, a NEW version of the program. It'll remind you when it's time to vote, each hour: http://usbmicro.com/misc
Votes are counted per network IP, so, don't go to the library or your office and vote hourly on each computer on the subnet, or all votes will be thrown out; multiple votes on rotating IPs will likewise be rejected.
Top two shows as of this morning:
(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)
Total votes Firefly: 657,366 (656,341)
Yesterday, Browncoats voted 1,025 (986) times, 39 more than the previous day. Great job, Browncoats! Let's keep that daily total up!
Total votes Xena: 515,674 (515,105)
Yesterday, Xenites voted 569 (633) times, 64 fewer than the previous day.
(Xenites voted 456 (353) times fewer than Browncoats, yesterday.)
Firefly is 141,692 (141,236) votes ahead of Xena, more than the vote total of #22 show Star Trek: Voyager 129,786. That puts us at 8,308 (8,764) votes away from a 150,000 vote lead, about 18.22 (24.83) days, based on current voting.
We'll get our next banner, for 660,000 votes, in another 2,634 (3,659) votes and 2.57 (3.71) days!
Our ultimate goal, 750,000 votes, is 92,634 votes, and, 90.37 days away!
7,129,771 (7,117,145) Top 40 votes have been counted as of 05/22/08. Yesterday, 12,626 (12,655) votes were cast. Our share fell to 9.2200161% (9.2219709%) of all Top 40 votes ever cast. Our share of the voting pie remains at 9%.
In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters also support Firefly and the Whedonverse, so, let's return the favor, shiny? Browncoats never leave a friend behind!):
#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 510 (517) votes, and, is currently receiving enough votes to overtake #4 show, Gunsmoke, which got 369 (354) votes, yesterday, in 154.55 (134.55) days.

#7 show Buffy the Vampire Slayer got 523 (525) votes, yesterday. Currently, Buffy is receiving enough votes to pass #6 show Farscape, which received 362 (367) votes, yesterday, in 23.12 (24.58) days. Buffy is also in pursuit of the 6th Hall of Fame slot, and, is 9,534 (10,057) votes, and 18.23 (19.16) days, away, while Farscape is 16.06 (16.82) days from getting there.
Just a couple more weeks remain in the Hall of Fame race! Buffy needs your help to get ahead!
#11 show Angel got 472 (461) votes, yesterday, receiving enough votes to pass #10 show Combat!, which received 447 (446) votes, in 117.28 (197.13) days.
Within the context of the Poll, Angel is stuck where he

The part about the 80's that I liked the most (not to knock the rest of it): Movies & TV with/about high school kids (16 Candles, Breakfast Club, Wierd Science, War Games, etc.) actually used high school kids! Now-a-days they use 20-somethings (or older!) to play the parts because they want them to do things on screen that it'd be illegal for a teen to do, or they want the series to run for years, and the characters to not change appearance (which is /supposed/ to happen as you mature). There are exceptions of course, but not many.
Oh! That & MTV actually used to show Music Videos.
