I started watching day one. I watched faithfully, including the half dozen times I tuned in only to find that Friday Night Football was playing in the slot reserved for Firefly.

I want to say a year ago. Right after school ended and I was bored witless with reruns, I was enmass renting movies and saw Serenity for the second time (I had rented it once before when it had first come out, but I was a teenager that lacked insight into movies and didn't like it.) and was intrigued. So, to further explore and kill my media boredom I bought the pilot on iTunes and watched.. then started downloading an episode a night onto my iPod and watching... then buying a used DVD set at FYE... then buying a new copy... then holding out to buy the CE BDM... and the comics.... and then there was the fanfiction...

Ah, so much can happen in a year

I am an original viewer. Big Joss fan. I saw the TV Guide ad and thought how dumb. Then I read by Joss Whedon and knew I'd love it.

I was always a Nathan fan and I remebered Jewel fro Flash forward.

Got started by the DVDs, about a year before the BDM. One of my daughter's ex- boyfriends loaned them to her, and she was watching them at home. I saw down, saw the opening scene of OMR , and that was it, I was hooked.

When I saw "The Train Job", I distinctly remember thinking "Dammit, I missed the first episode..."

Okay, here's another question esp. for the other "original" viewers: How did you all finally end up here at FFF.net?

I got here trying to find out what the hell happened to the 2hr pilot that I "missed".

This is a great thread. I love reading about everyone's journey into the 'Verse.

Well, I'm an original viewer. Heard one day that JW had created this new Sci-Fi program called Firefly and I said, I'm there! Saw the promos with the space ship and the horses and thought: this I gotta see! Heartbroken when F*&%^*&%)^%#$ing Fox decided to cancel.

Fast forward to 2005 with the BDM about to come out. Told my son, who's now a fan, and loved it (I always thought the show should have been called Serenity). And here's the strange part, I was not aware that the series was out in DVD.

Fast forward to 2007. I was shopping for a dvd for my niece when I see the Serenity dvd on the shelf (Collector's Edition, the only one left). I pick it up, as I'm passing by the TV series section I spot the FF series set, I pick that up.
I did not realize what I had until I saw the entire series in order (gorram Fox) and it made me appreciated the BDM that much more (Why did JW kill off Book and Wash?). My son and I watched every episode in just 3 days (his fav ep is OIS). I have been fanatical about our BDH ever since.

I am embarrassed to admit that I held out until my sister practically begged me to sit down and watch the show, long after the movie was released, and then I was hooked. At the end of the series, (after cursing Fox retrospectively) like many people who came in late, I turned to the Net to heal the wounds of loss.

Hey Moose! Great question, ya know about FFF.net!
I had some trouble remembering just how I got hooked (I'm gettin' old in my old age) but here it goes:

After rewatching the BDM and a few of my favs eps from the series, I went on the internet to try and find out what the latest word was on Serenity/FF. So naturally I did a search on Summer Glau. I came across a website for her and found links to a bunch of sites including this one. I poked around most but found this to be the best (sorry Universal).

For the record, I was really oblivious to the "order" that Fox so brilliantly "suggested" FF should air. But I do remember looking forward to my TV night with FF and all the pre-empting in the world wasn't going to keep me away from my show. My fav ep at the time was Jaynestown. But now, after watching the series in the order it was intended I can honestly say it is among the top 5 best written shows ever. Thats right I said it - ever.

Watching the set in order was like seeing it for the first time. And watching it with my son was, well, priceless!

Didn't see it originally, only got involved after getting Serenity on DVD a couple of years ago, then got the series on DVD and watched it over and over again..

I watched the movie on Pay per View (satellite tv) out of boredom and curiosity (always up for a new sci fi adventure!). I didn't catch it right from the beginning but tuning in at the "What was that??" part didn't hurt none. :)

It glued me to my seat. I didn't know what the hell I just watched but I sure wanted to see it again, so I did. Lots of times.

Only then did I figure out that I had heard of something called "Firefly" even though I'd never seen it, so I went and bought the series.
