This is mostly for my own curiosity, but I've created a small survey asking when you were introduced to the 'verse. I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd fill it out.

My guess is that most people here are like me. I'd never heard of Firefly until AFTER the movie was in theaters.

Anyway, survey is here:

Couldn't answer exactly because my option wasn't on there. So I went with the third option as being closest.

I caught the Firefly marathon eps on SciFi before the movie came out and fell in love. Went to the movie ( a bunch of times! ) and have been a fan ever since.

I found it on Hulu.com. Still new, but taking as many people down with me. Got my husband, daughter and niece hooked so far and I am trying to get more!

Gorramn , this is the sort of thing that keeps me 'in the game' ; all the ruttin' new folk...

Day One Browncoat , September 20th , Twenty-Aught Two , by my recollection...

Proud to see all the Ruttin' New Folk strollin' up the ramp...

I'm also an original Browncoat from September 20, 2002. Watched all of the episodes as they aired except for one because I was not home that night and either I screwed up the programming on my vcr or The Alliance screwed it up.

Bought the dvd set as soon as it was released and have watched the series well over twenty times by now, and close to that for the BDM, which I saw in two pre-release screenings on May 5 and June 23, 2005. Then I watched it six times during its regular theatrical run.

I'm an "Original." Watched Train Job because I read the promo in the paper and recognized Gina from Hercules, Xena, and Cleopatra 2525.

Remember being pretty gorram mad when the show was prempted for the baseball playoffs and then {i]Happy Gilmore.

Voted. Started watching a few weeks ago - after catching most of "SERENITY" on TV someplace. I went out and bought all the DVD's.

Good Stuff.

I vaguely remember hearing about the series when it first aired but I didn't watch it. I never even heard about the movie which would have sparked my interest as I love SciFi flicks. I discovered Firefly on UHD in October 2006 and have been hooked ever since.

Another ab origine voter, from the first airing of The Train Job. The missus, who is much wiser than I, was gonna watch that show with the horses and the spaceship in the preview, but I didn't feel moved to watch some weird western. However, that was what was on in the room, and I was hooked. Two things really sold me: Mal's conversation with the Sheriff about choices, and what happened to Crow.

That wasn't the first time the missus hooked me at the start of a great, new sci-fi series; she did the very same thing to me with Babylon 5.

Original Series watcher. Only because my dear husband was so frickin' excited about it. I told him the promo looked stupid and I wouldn't watch it. But then one of the commercials had "that guy from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place". It was a stupid show but he was my favorite character from it.
So I watched Train Job, confused about what I had missed. Watched it all the way through to the Pilot when all questions were finally answered.
But it wasn't until I got my DVD set and watched it all in order that I realized the genius of it.

Oh, I hope I did the survey right. I didn't get a confirmation when I was done.
