Oh I'm excited. It's the return of Joss to TV. That's exciting no matter what he's making. Though I don't see this working out. It just doesn't look like the type of show people will be willing to invest in. There's obviously a whole world that needs to be set up here. Is this the future? Is this some sort of underground organization or a government thing? It looks like it's a myth to most people but somehow people have found out about it and hired the dolls. There's going to be a lot that people have to get on board with just to watch an episode from the looks of it. That's not the type of show that can get the ratings it will need on a major network. If this were on TNT or SciFi or whatever then maybe. On Fox I just don't see this having much chance.

I'm excited! A new Joss show and I'm here for the beginning of it! I like the premise and I love that
Tahmoh Penikett is onboard!

Joss + the actor that plays Helo. I'm there!

That being said, I sent this trailer link to all of my friends and family both scifi fans and not and the reaction overall was "meh". Which causes me concern, because in order to be a hit ( which I'm crossing my fingers it is! ) this show will need viewers ( loyal ones! ) besides Whedon fans. So I'm hoping the publicity push and lead in advertising is GOOD!

From what I've read Fox is committed to this and willing to push it. I'm not having a lot of the same doubts about Fox that some folks are having. I think their new "suits" are interested in improving their rep with "genre" fans and I think they really really want to work with Joss.

That's what I hear from folks too, but I'm sorry I don't have faith. I think they'll baulk at the ratings and bail out. I just can't imagine the show that I saw from that trailer is going to pick up a lot of the mass market. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Same here. Also, it's got a full season pickup now (13 episodes total), which is plenty enough time to at least get one really good arc in (like they did with Wonderfalls). Also - here's a fun fact for you - they're presenting it with limited commercials (Part of a "Remote-free TV" initiative, they say. Part of a "try to deal with the fact that people can often now fast-forward through your ads anyway and get more for your ads by allowing fewer of them" initiative, is what I say it really is), up to 6 extra minutes of program per episode. Woot!

I just hope the TV schedule stays like it is currently - nothing else I was planning to watch conflicting with it, in a decent primetime slot, leading in to a returning megahit show. Even if I do end up using the DVR (which I probably won't have to, with the way my work and school schedules so far line up), my DVR can only record two shows at once, ya know? :)
