You kidding, with the armoury you were brandishing in the other thread?

Just out of curiosity, you say you're from Kennesaw, which I believe is in Georgia, and is a borough of Atlanta? I know another browncoat from another site who lives there. Any plans on visiting Dragon*Con this year?

I have to say just from the outside reading down the thread it seems to have taken an academic discussion to the level of a barroom brawl.

Some times that ain't necessarily a bad thing.

Imagine RWED as a kind of hybrid debate/boxing match, where the contestants are scored not only on the blow by blow, but also on their arguments and how they are presented for an overall account involving both.

While this one hasn't been very productive, that has indeed resulted in some extremely productive and thought inducing discussion - so many forums where this kind of thing is discussed are run by folk with agendas of their own, or at the very least sympathies for one side or the other, and thus most good and solid arguments that might come to some kind of compromise, agreement or even mutual abandonment when both sides wear themselves out are cut short before that point.

Here in RWED, there's no friendly ref to step in, you HAVE to make your point, and well, or you will get verbally cut to pieces by most, and quickly.

I generally avoid tearing a strip off someone newly testing the waters, but not all are so circumspect, just so ya know.

While this is a fairly extreme case, there's usually some element of personal smack in any discussion around here, and it varies in degree from tongue in cheek to downright bitter, sure - but much of the time the topic is being heavily picked apart and debated as well, in detail and length that just isn't found in more moderated boards.

Old school usenet probably comes closest in similarity.
You might find this link entertaining, given it's applicability here.

Still, it does work for us the way it is, and quite well, most of the time.

Yes Kennesaw is in the burbs of the Atl. (Everything is in the Burbs of ATL. It is not really a city but a Burb with high rises.)

As for an Armory well every girl needs to have her toys. Thank goodness I am not one of those gun-nuts who faint at the very idea of owning a weapon.

I always like to go a watch the parade at D*C. Dunno about the rest of the event though. Depends on my budget and travel plans.

I would be up for trying to catch lunch sometime with other BCs who are going, but I would want them to actually show.

I tried to meet up with some Brown Coats from this site two years ago. Talk about messy! 1 roomed with 2 (platonic). Then 1 hooked up with 3 maybe 4. 1 did not ask before preforming the midnight gymnastics and 2 freaked out. 2 disappeared in the middle of the night after witnessing the gymnastics of 1 and we didn't get to meet up. I did meet 1 but she decided that she didn't want to go out to lunch after all. 3 & 4 didn't show at all. None were seen on the site after that fiasco.

Moral if your going to "hook up" clear it with your rommie first.

Oh I know Fremdfirma. The endless personal attacks were why I quit watching it years ago, but I am back. And I was laughing my ass off reading all the stuff slinging back and forth.

Sometimes it is just high-larous to watch a mud wrestling match. Just ask Jayne!

nice link!

I was in it last year, I wasn't given much choice in fact. My girlfriend didn't allow me to join the female companions though, even though they asked so nicely.

I've been told I have to go, but orders don't buy plane tickets...

If I end up going I'll send you a PM or something.

Sounds rather like what happened to a friend a few D*Cs back, could be the same person.

Kirkules calls me a Troll while insulting other people for no reason.

Wasn't calling you a Troll, just insinuating. This conversation sound familiar to you?

Pee-wee: I know you are but what am I?
Francis: You're a nerd!
Pee-wee: I know you are but what am I?
Francis: You're an idiot!
Pee-wee: I know you are but what am I?
Pee-Wee, Francis: I know you are, but what am I? I know you are, but what am I? I know you are, but what am I? I know you are, but what am I? I know you are, but what am I? (Pee-Wee): Infinity!
Francis: No, I'm not.
Francis, Pee-Wee: You are! No way! Knock it off! Cut it out!
Francis: Shut up, Pee-Wee!
Pee-wee: Why don't you make me.
Francis: You make me!
Pee-wee: Because. I don't make monkeys, I just train 'em.

In either event that makes AU at least as bad as me, funny how you give him a free pass.

Seems reasonable enough. I'm in.
