Shindig: A Firefly Roleplay [Play By Post]

Well, since the other person who posted their play by post site and got some hits, I figured I would post mine as well.

Note: This is a cross blend of both the Firefly television series and the Serenity movie. The only reason for the cross-blend is because there are some people who would like to play the characters that were killed in the theatrical movie.

The year is well over 2510, and the crew is finally beginning to settle down on Serenity. Previously, the crew was set out on a mission that was discovered by their own psychic, River. They had found out about the adandoned planet, Miranda, that was conviently within Reaver territory. Reavers, the once human creatures that now have no heart and soul, acting crazy and native, they will kill anything and everything in sight. The Crew of Serenity ventured their way over to Miranda, finding that the Reavers were actually accidently created by the Alliance. The Alliance of the Central planets was formed, and previously battled the independents or brown coats (upon which the Captain, Mal and his first mate, Zoe, were apart of), and the Alliance had won, leaving the Brown Coats with a bitter feeling towards them.

However, the rest of the universe failed to realize that Reavers were actually real, and not just in their imagination, a story to scare little children. Although the journey to relay this message to the entire universe was proven to be difficult. In fact, there was almost two deaths to the crew, Book and Wash. Thankfully, they were able to be saved by the help of St. Lucys, a major hospital on the planet Ariel. A man known only as The Operative tried to stop them in pursuit of taking River back to the academy. This academy is where they experimented on River's brain making her the killing machine, psychic she is today. With the help of her brother, Simon Tam, she escaped and found her home on Serenity. In order to Relay this message, they made their way over to Mr. Universe, where they could get ahold of some equipment to send it out. This is where a huge battle took place between the Crew and the reavers. Thought they were going to die, being cornered in one comparment of the hub, River stepped in killing all of them off. However, it did leave the group broken and battered, and the ship Serenity beyond repair.

After a final showdown between The Operative and Mal, Mal finally gets the message through, which angers the Alliance. Leaving The Operative with no ship home on the hub, they managed to hitch a ride to a nearby planet to fix up Serenity into more working order. The crew finally thought they could get some rest from their adventures. Zoe tended to her husband, Wash, where she is still happy that they are still together. Jayne went back to shining his guns, especially his favorite that he calls Vera. Book moves about the ship, trying to read the pages that River has not wrote on where Simon continues to find a cure to help out his sister. Yet, he is being disrupted with his new relationship with Kaylee Frye. Inara made the decision to come back on the ship, after leaving for some unknown reason, perhaps the same reason on why she came back. Mal was just happy that he could finally get some peace and quiet. Or so they thought..

The Alliance was angry that they had sent out the message. Desperately trying to prove that the relay was just a hoax, many that were for the Alliance were now against them. They had no where to run and their empire was falling apart. However, in the shadows, they have begun creating something more, something bigger than the Reavers, something that can be controlled. The original plan is to get revenge for those who destroyed the empire, at any means necessary. There is a war on the way, my dears, which side will you be on? Are you one for Revenge, or one for Justice? Just your path now..

Will this be free-form or use the Serenity RPG system that was put out?

There was an actual Serenity RPG (pen and paper) released and I have the book for it. So I am looking on the boards for anyone running a game using it's system ;)

Well I don't have that.. although that sounds interesting.. I will have to give it a try sometime.
