I generally don't reply to political extremist threads ... but this is amazing.
Let me say, as said before. ALL politicians lie. Okay, we know that. Most of us lie. "how do I look in this dress?", yeah, you are going to tell her the truth, right? (ridiculous example I know, but it's just a point).
Any statement that is absolute, comes into question. It's not a matter of the biggest, worst etc. It's a matter of individual choice and following our own beliefs as to who is lying about what. If the issue is something important to you ... then that lie is going to be important to you. (Like the press doesn't twist and take quotes out of context)
BUT ... to imply (Bush never lied) that your party's candidates and personnel are pure and without any fault is naive and arrogant.
We all have strong feelings in politics. Conservatives tend to want to protect everything they have to the point that giving aide to the less fortunate is distasteful and a threat. They also want to tear down the division of church and state so that the Christian bible rules the country and be damned, literally, all other belief systems. Liberals tend blame all the problems on the conservatives, want to give all the money to "special interest" groups, don't believe in God (as defined in the ONLY book, the Bible) and don't take "personal" responsibility. It's all cliche and we tend to fall into the party line of beliefs.
Surprise, not ALL liberals are bleeding hearts weariang blinders. Not ALL conservatives are penny pinching bigots.
Unfortunately ... we can't tell that from this thread.
Here we believe in the "little guy", we believe in the browncoats as we see them to be. This thread just doesn't fit does it?

I have to completely and totally agree with you there. I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, but neither am I a pincher-conservative. I believe in a fair law that all men can agree on, of course, unless they are the ones falling under the penalty of the law, in which case it's never fair.
What I'd like to do is define "lie," "lying," and "lied" since those words are being thrown around a lot.

Ok, now that we've got that out of the way... doesn't a lie also include the hiding of the truth? I always got whooped when I was younger for not telling the whole truth, for leaving parts out. I think that counts as lying too. So, wouldn't anyone who only told part of the story, especially when it comes to telling the American public what happened and when that little extra counts, be lying? I would have to say yes - so this here is to support all of those other bits of evidence set forth by those above me, both for and against no one in particular. Just use the same definition when you hold your bits of glass up to the light, and remember, nothing you say or do matters in the long run. You don't have any money, why should your voice count?
