Here's my transcription. I managed to download a free demo version of some scoring software so I could put it online:

The Cb could be a B, which works for the chord, but it plays easier on the fiddle with the third finger, so the Cb "reads" easier for the fiddler. It's probably not technically correct, though, as you pointed out. I see now that I also left out the Ab by mistake.

I'd like to see you take mine and play with it a bit, see how you can improve upon it. I like how I hand-wrote mine better than the software version, but I don't have a scanner, so if I want to put it on the web, I don't have much choice.

I have mine in Finale...I'll upload it later today...you can see what I've taken from the piano part and put into violin.

We've done a zillion sing-a-longs with violin and guitar with it and it works just fine.

I'll post a message as soon as I've gotten it into pdf.

This is the MP3 I used for my transcript. It might differ some from the DVD. I don't know where it was taken from.

Have any of you tried playing the violin along with a recording of the theme? That's how I worked out my version.

Of course, the theme is really a folk tune, so improv is the way to go. You don't have to match the recorded fiddle exactly...

One more thing....

I'd be really interested in working out a score with y'all via email. We can discuss the chords, specific licks, etc., and then post the final product here for the fans once it's done. I know I could use some help with the transcript. I'm a very experienced violinist, but I am a little rusty on my theory.

If you're interested, I have an email form online. If you fill in your email address, it won't be public or get published anywhere. I'll be the only one to get it. Then I'll send out an email to all interested parties and we can get to work!

P.S. I promise I'm not a spammer. In fact, if someone else wants to get this going, I'll be happy to work that way.
