Hear, hear!

Cisall, one anime movie that I'm almost positive you'll like is Jin Roh. It's extremely well researched, written, and animated. The story takes place in an alternate reality where the Axis powers won WWII (as I understand it), and overall the world is a little more brutal and fascist than what we're used to. Yep- beautiful, smart, and violent!

It also won't be animated. OTOH, it's being done by M. Night Shyamalan, so it'll almost certainly be weird.

LWaves:

I agree on Toy Story 1 and 2 and also The Incredibles. I thought these were some best written animated movies I have ever seen.

But I have seen a few so here's my list.

Blood

You should check out Blood+, I wouldn't really call it a sequel, but it's pretty good. And I totally agree about the FMA movie.

A few of mine.

Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed: Shirow Masamune is just brilliant.
End of Evangelion: It completes the mindfuck...
The Place Promised In Our Early Days: Makoto Shinkai's films are so very pretty...
Grave of the Fireflies: A great film, a little hard to get through at times... *Sniffle*
Afro samurai: Awesome, just awesome.
Death Note: Beautiful animation, great music, great story.

Enchanted. Beowolf was a complete waste of animation.

It's half-decent, IMHO. I'm a huge fan of the Death of Superman arc of the comics, and the movie runs like a Pre-Crisis version (no Jonathan Kent, no Justice League or any other costumes at the funeral, the marginalization of Clark). It's basically Superman in isolation, whereas the main strength of the comics was the context of how everyone reacted to Doomsday. Take it as an "Elseworlds" story, though, and it's good.

I have all those comics, and that's how I took the movie...it's actually more in line with the Donner films IMO, except that they got Luthor back to the evil-multi-national-corporate thing- which was good.

Adam turns in a great performance as Superman (including the scenes where he's talking to himself), and Marsters' Luthor manages to be just as good as the JLU version.

Don't forget an EXCELLENT musical score by Robert Kral (Angel).

Yeah, I'm a fan Chrisisall
