Mal: Johnny Cash - broken but still flying. Key track, "Walk the Line"
Zoe: Nina Simone - Slinky, seductive rhythms with a gritty edge. Key track, "I Put a Spell on You"
Wash: The Beatles - hippy peacenik that he is. Key track, not "Crybaby" but "Blackbird"
Jayne: AC/DC - hard, driving, sweaty. Key track, "Thunderstruck"
Kaylee: Debbie Harry - sweet but dirty too. Key track, "I Want that Man"
Inara: Sibelius - sophisticated, gorgeous sagas in musical form. Key track, Bernstein's recording of "The Swan of Tuonela"
Book: Jason and the Scorchers (you knew this was coming when you saw who started the thread) - a hard rocker with a devout faith. Key track, "Bible and a Gun" (or "Six Feet Underground" maybe? No. I thought not.)
Simon: Rod Stewart - has made middle of the road into an art form. Key track, "First Cut is the Deepest."
