I think, Insight Spinner, we'll just have to wait and see what path Joss takes us down. Then he'll probably make a complete 180 after he's lulled us into a false sense of security.... but it's certainly fun speculating.

Ok, been keeping my mouth shut on this topic since I think anyone that's read most of my fic's knows I am a Jayne/River shipper...heck, don't even need to read them, just look at the descriptions and you get the idea...LOL
I don't see a River/Jayne pairing anytime soon, but I do think there will be one. There's just a vibe between them. She's always watching him. For example, in Safe, except for a few glances around at the mob, she's looking up at Jayne and smiling.
And I think once they figure out that it is Blue Sun logo's that set her off, thereby clearing her of the "trying to kill Jayne with a butchers knife" stigma, he'll start to harbor those dirty little thoughts of her nekkid again. You know he had them after seeing her come out of that crate...LOL
But I can also see a possibilty for a Jayne/Kaylee hook-up. I really do think he had/has a bit of a crush on her.

I think he does care about her, I just see it as more of a brother/sister thing.
Love your Jayne/River fanfic, by the way. Can't read the Kaylee/Jayne one because of the aforementioned brother/sister vibe. But the other ones are damn shiney.

Fear not "The Tattoo", it really isn't a "romance". It's a Jayne takes Kaylee to get a tattoo piece. You can certainly read it as Jayne having a crush on Kaylee but I left things very vague...and Kaylee definatly crushes on Simon in it...LOL

I also think the Jayne/River pairing won't happen right away, but I just always thought it would happen sometime in the future.
Never noticed her staring up at him in Safe, but I did notice her stealing his bread off of his plate at the end of that episode. Noticed some other stuff too. During the first part of HoG, everytime Jayne says something she is watching him and smiling. She's also smiling at him in The Message when he's wearing that hat his mother sent him and reading her letter aloud.
They could be condescending smiles where she is thinking, "Aw, look at the little idiot. Isn't he cute?" Or, she could just be thinking, "He's cute." I prefer to think it's the latter.

I noticed that too, hehe. Can't believe I forgot to mention that.
Let's see, other Jayne/River moments. In Ariel, when Simon goes over to save that man's life, Jayne has his arms around River. Now I know he does it at first to try and keep her from doing something that will draw attention to them, but then he keeps his hand on her shoulder the entire time Simon is gone. He only moves it when Simon wheels her away.
On a side note, I love the look River gives Jayne after Simon saved the guys life. It's like she's saying, "Yep, that's my brother. He's a Big Damn Hero, you know." She just looks so proud of him.

What else is there to do until the BDM arrives? My free time goes toward re-watching all of my dvds, such a trial really, and trying to prove that I'm right about my whole Jayne/River theory. 'Cause it's always nice to be right about something.
Your fanfics have corrupted me, by the way. Before I read them I thought that something might happen between Jayne/River, but I wasn't entirely sure. Now since reading your stories, I am absolutely convinced that they will end up together sooner or later. So if they never get together, I'm going to be blaming you for my crushing disappointment.
