I was watching Field of Dreams the other day, and there, in the credits, was the name Dwire Brown. He was playing Kevin' Costner's father as a young man, quite handsome in a long-haired, Bryllcreme sort of way.

And I said, " I know him from Firefly." Dug thru several eps ( I wasn't sure which one, and it was a good excuse anyway.), and sure enough, there is Dwire Brown listed in Trash.

But there was no " as" , or picture. So I watched the whole ep ( good excuse again.), and still couldn't figure out which part he was playing. I thought he was playing Monte- thought maybe he'd aged, put on weight, but still wore the long hair.

But turns out he was playing Durran Haymer- lighter hair, crew cut and all.

I can't get over how much different he looked, but it made me a little more sympathetic to the character.

Haymer may be a genocidal maniac and looter, but he was genuinely trying to help Yo-Saff-Brig, and genuinely grateful to Mal for bringing her back.

As mentioned in the thread b=4&t=31337 I really liked Dwier playing Kathy Ireland's brother in Mom And Dad Save the World. I found it a hilarious role in a movie with lots of funny parts. The role was also the son of the King (Eric Idle).
