I am really liking New Amsterdam after 4 episodes. The guy in lead reminds me of Mal somehow and I like the flashbacks to his past.
Much, much better than most of the crud on TV. Fox must be getting ready to pull the plug soon.. it is what they do after all.

Hehe, gotta love this post from someone on the above link.

This is great - it's the start of EXACTLY what Fox needs to keep doing to gain my respect. CANCEL SHOWS - one by one until they have NONE on air. Then and only then will they deserve the respect of everyone for finally realizing they are have no right to be in this business at all. They screen little ever worth watching and watching anything that even STARTS to look good is very very dangerous - because the best shows are always the first ones that will be gone. Such is the level of insanity within this network. If you never want to be disappointed again - change the channel - this loser network just doesn't have a clue, and they certainly don't have the right to be wasting your time the way they do.

I really love this show, too. But, I think that they brought in John's soul mate too soon (unless they have some great plan, like Sara's not the one).
Darksiders can keep their cookies. We have better writers.
Grrr. Argghh.

I'm thinking maybe the doc really isn't the soul-mate. Maybe the partner?
Anyway, I like this show. I'm not going to love it because I expect it will be cancelled soon.

After a decent start, it's been tanking ratings-wise. So, yeah, it'll likely be cancelled.

What you said , seconded...I really do get the Nathan-y vibe from Nikolaj , only he's Danish and perhaps somewhat less turnip-y...
There was a big debut screening of the show's pilot at a NYC Museum on March 3rd...Looked like the network was involved with that , so I'm hoping the plug-pulling won't be forthcoming , and your link from last fall was pretty old , and much has transpired since then...
Still , there are a disturbing number of parallels already developing vis-a-vis the network's (mis-)handling of this show...And its prior track record with that show about the spaceship with the Shiny-hiney and its so-very-pretty crew...
The ratings data that I've seen have shown New Amsterdam doing similar numbers to Terminator:TSCC , possibly with slightly better ratings , even...
One can only hope the nameless network won't F**-up yet another great opportunity...Not holding any breath , mind...Been down this road numerous times...
Nice interview with Nathan-y Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (John Amsterdam) , available at hulu :

I've watched four episodes so far, and though not perfect, it has so much potential! What a great lead character, and what a clever use of the "immortal" myth. This is FOX though, and they don't care about classy shows with great characters and good writing. Instead, lets play to the lowest common denominator, and give the idiots more mindless reality fluff.
Is this a sample of how FOX will handle The Doll House? If so, I'm wondering if I should even bother! Sorry Joss, but I can't handle getting attached to another one of your brilliant ideas, just to see FOX destroy it again!
FOX should just get out of the TV series business, and stick to what works for their mindless audience, and their simple minded executives. All reality crap, all of the time!!!
If it wasn't for House, I'd block FOX on my SAT box. The rest of the network SUCKS!
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
